painting of props

We used the mercury lower unit paint. It worked well and stays put.

I've used Prop speed. It has done well in keeping barnacles off. Been using it a couple years now.

I agree with Dave, Prop speed is a great product......pricey but you'll gain some performance also.

Prop speed is very expensive but I have heard it works very well. I am trying to find the best prep/ paint for my running gear, is prop speed the best? How do I determine the amount that I need? I have also heard some others say to use TriLux 33 on everything except props and shafts. Any opinion would be appreciated.

I have used the zinc coat for two years now no barnacles and the paint stayed on everywhere except the tips of the blades I also used it on the shafts pricey @30 a can this year a friend found rustolium zinc spray @ the depot for 5$ he tried it on one trim tab so we will see how it goes over the next few months....might be a good find

I have a friend who used the Home Depot stuff on his running gear and swears by it.

I boat in Barnegat Bay and battled barnacles and those atomic worms. Used to spend hours at Tices Shoal scraping my props. Last year I cleaned my props sprayed them with Interlux Primco (primer) then Interlux Trilux33 (anti fouling paint) and that took care of my problem. I just ordered both from eBay and will do the same for this season. About $28 per spray can.

I'm starting to hear of guys at the marina doing the same. They are claiming it has the same contents, and works great.

FWIW my running gear is naked, and does not have growth.
