I have an 2006 340 Sundancer. I'm considering having the hull completely painted. Does anyone with a similar model have experience in what I should anticipate in costs? Also, if you have a good referral in Southeast Florida to do the job would be helpful.

This will probably be super regional. I have a dock mate that had a 45' boat quoted at $30,000 +/- for the hull sides...

Why do you need paint on such a new rig? Have you considered a vinyl wrap instead, perhaps?

I've been wrapping it for the past 4 years. The wrapping starts to peel and wanted to consider painting as an option. That $30K is way too high for what I would consider.

I know you wanted the east coast but there is a painter in Charlotte Harbor that does a great job at $250 per foot.
4 boats in my harbor have been done in the last year.

Do you have the name/contact info? I found a We Paint Boats on FB, lots of activity on the page, seem to be from there...

Just had my 23 Regulator sprayed today. Awlcraft flag blue. Not sure what you mean by SE Florida. I live in Jupiter and this guy is in Stuart.

We Paint Boats in Pt. Charlotte. I was quoted 28,000 for hull, deck and cockpit for my 370. Stuart area does a lot of refits, so I'm sure there are good painters there.
Let's talk more about your wrap experience. 3 times over what time period? what are you covering up? where does it start to peel? every time? cost to wrap?

Thanks to everyone that replied. You all certainly provided me with an education and convinced me to wrap again. This time I changed my color to straight diamond white. Same wrap guy as the previous two times, I paid $2500 and the job looks amazing; a price you just cannot beat. For those that asked, "SE Florida" means southeast Florida. I'm located in Fort Lauderdale. Thanks again.

Can I ask why do you need to wrap or paint your hull on a 2006? Did someone mess it up bad already?

I boat the boat in 2016 and the hull was all faded and marked up. It appears to have originally been a white hull that one of the two prior owners painted blue. They really didn't take good care of most anything. I had a lot of work to do on the boat and the quickest, cheapest and best looking at the time was a wrap. It appears I was correct then as that's what I ended up doing again.

In my case, the Regulator (2014) had 2 issues. First, someone went at the original blue gel coat with a DA and aggressive paper leaving deep swirl marks. Second, the guy I bought it from had the name stuck down both sides so there was ghosting once the decals were removed. I bought the boat knowing a good paint job was the only resolution.

I was looking for a matching tender, and after the paint job on both the hull and Yamaha motor, I think it came out pretty good.

wow what a set up. Painted our 500 flag blue also.

Awlgrip is a tremendous product. We have an eleven year old Awlgrip job on our Sabre that was done by the factory. Positives are it looks great and is supposed to be more scratch resistant than other coating systems. Downsides, it is impossible to do patch/match repairs that blend in, and is very sensitive to many chemicals used in boat cleaning products. Our hull still looks good, but there has been attrition from both the PO and us, so we are getting to the point where a repaint is probably in the future.

The manufacturer resolved the issue by coming up with Awlcraft that is less scratch resistant, but can be repaired easily and inexpensively.

We where given the choice of coatings but the paint shop recommended Alexseal as it’s easier to repair all great coatings but we went with Alexseal. They do 100’ers with the same paint keep them washed and wax 3x a year and they should be good for many years.
