Paint VHF antenna

My antenna is looking a little worn and discolored these days. My father said that he has sanded and painted (with marine paint) the antenna and it's come out looking nice.

Has anyone else tried painting their long VHF antennas? If so, what sand paper grit did you use and paint?

Its fiberglass.....don't rub it with your hands.

Use 240 or 320 grit paper to skuff up the fiberglass then I used epoxy appliance paint in an aerosol can.......several coats, but don't let it completely dry between coats.
