Spots on my bottom have been repaired where thru hulls were added post molding or where there were imperfections in the mold. These repairs do not hold paint like the rest of the gelcoated bottom. The photo below shows one such area, but it also is evident around the shafts and and other exhaust port.

The dealer has tried to fix this by using an Interlux primer, which has failed after only 2 months in the water. Does anyone know how to fix this for real? Thanks.

Back when I had my '93 330DA, the exhaust ports where notorius for cracking for the same reasons you described. The dealer (pre-MarineMax) as part of my purchase agreement, had a fiberglass "guy" repair the cracks and I had the same paint peeling problem. What I did, and it seemed to work well, was rough the Heck out of the area with gritty sandpaper and then botom paint. No Primer, just sand and paint....but make sure that they sand well past the fixed area so the whole are adheres well....

the primer was a good choice- if they actually used it.
the guy painting the bottom either did not sand it, or just painted right over it again not caring.

sand it with some 100 grit, or 80 grit, and bottom paint right over it, give it 2 coats.

if you have primer use it and follow the directions to the letter.

Sanding might work. After you do that, I'd go over the sanded area with acetone or some other wax stripper. When you decide to redo the bottom, I'd place a barrier coat down and then apply an ablative paint that works for your water conditions. This really makes future recoating much easier. You only need to power wash and properly applied, ablative paints thin out and require no sanding.
