Paccar engine in a Peterbilt

Used to drive double bottoms tankers out of Lake Station, Indiana to Michigan. 130,000LBS and catch 13th at 85MPH. OHHHH YESSS do I miss it. Gave up the trucking business in the early 80's and switched to heavy equipment. I can still see the Indiana cops point at the double tankers coming back empty from Michigan to Indiana. (They didn't go up that way:grin:) We would catch highway 80 (no weigh stations until Michigan) just before the 94 ramp. Had one guy get on 94 and ended up with a $6000.00 fine. 130,000lbs on a 73280lbs road back then.:smt021

Go Mack or go home!

Mack is a very heavy truck that takes away a lot from your gross haul weight. :smt021

My friend Burt has 2 tri-axle Mack dump trucks that can only haul 19 tonnes & that's with a over weight permit. :wow:

Isn't 19 about right for a tri-axle depending on distances between rear axles and all that?

Heavy trucks don't usually break. :smt001

Mack dump trucks are 25.000 pounds empty depending on what box you have.

Our goal is 27 tons, some will go well over 30. There are no scales in the woods. Ga DOT transportation police love log trucks.
