This weekend looks like it's going to be great. Would like to overnight sat and sunday on the hook, see some fireworks, go to town via dinghy etc... which bay would be better as far as anchoring and a nice town to visit?

Where are there fireworks THIS weekend?

Mike
I do not know of any firework displays but I would try Northport Harbor, really short walk to the village - when I stay on the hook I normally stay in Duck Island Harbor just north west of the Northport harbor entrance.

Could also stay in Lloyds Harbor or Huntington Harbor but a much further walk into the town - I have stayed on the hook in Oyster bay but never got off the boat

Mike,
Head east at the back of Huntington Harbor and south through Northport bay. On your left will be Seymours, you can pick up a mooring for the weekend. They provide tenders to shuttle you back and forth or you can use the dink to the town dock which is just a short walk to many restuarants.

Huntington sounds good.

I know there are fireworks in manhasset bay on sat, I figured others would do the same.

time to do some google earth for Huntington and see what I can come up with.
