Hello,

I am looking for a "fun" marina to spend the night at Huntington LI.
Is there anywhere else to go beside Prime restaurant.

Anything i should know entering Huntington harbor?

Any help would be greatly appriciate.

Thanks.

The marinas on the Huntington side are all private and besides, they're far from town. Head east from Huntington Bay into Northport and try and hook up at the town dock where you can tie up overnight. It's a short walk into town with plenty of shopping and restuarants. If that doesn't work out you can get a mooring overnight at Seymours, they have dory service into town included.
As for entering the harbor, plenty of deep water, no issues there. Watch for the no wake zone as you approach the lighthouse to the west. If you stay east to enter Northport Bay there is a no wake zone to the east near Sand City, stay south of the channel markers and you can stay on plane past the short no wake zone. Plenty of water, watch your charts.

Depends on the services you are looking for – When I overnight I look for a marina with a pool for the kids etc. I would try the Huntington Yacht Club. A full service club, pool, restaurant etc.
The channel is well marked but I suggest that you study the charts as there is
a shoal just south of the light house. If you are not aware of the shoal, some try and cut through to get between Huntington harbor & Lloyds harbor; at high tide you do not see the rocks….ouch!
Plenty of good restaurants in town a short taxi ride away (or a nice walk it’s about 2 miles into town)

+1 for Northport.
Best spot is the town dock (buck or two a ft. with ele/water). Great for adults and my kids love it too.
Go to any of the restaurants and enjoy.......

Anchored in Northport last year. nice little town... watch out for teenagers looking for a good time throwing bait. Other than that, the town dock is a cool hang, lots of moorings available too.
