Hi all. I have a 290 AJ and the main control panel inside the cabin shows the Outlets/Refrigerator on the same switch. I've got that switch turned on, and the fridge works fine, but none of the three outlets work at all (the two in the cabin, and the one on the stern side of the helm, back near the main breaker panel. I can't find a specific breaker/fuse for that switch, but I wouldn't think that would be the issue anyway, since the fridge works fine. Any clues/suggestions? Thank you, William

GFI tripped -maybe?

FWIW on my boat the fridge and outlets are on the same breaker but on separate switches.

The fridge may be running on DC voltage now (i.e. the batteries). If it's not the GFI as others have suggested, you may want to check your shore power breaker.

Thanks guys. I will look into all of those suggestions. (Just fyi, it was when the generator was running, not shore power - but I had the shore power hooked up earlier this week - at home - and they didn't work then either). Puzzled.....but thanks, I'll check your suggestions in the morning.....William

I had the exact boat loved it, Try the G.F.I. in the bathroom vanity it's inside to the right and there is a G.F.I. in the headliner above the couch [you have to look up underneath to see it ] If that does not fix it let me know I did a lot of work on that boat. Don

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I did indeed find a gfi in the head, under the sink. It was obviously one that the previous owner worked on/changed out (was missing the plastic outer faceplate....only had the outlet itself). I reset that, but it didn't help turn the outlets back on. I'm going to buy a new gfi outlet tomorrow morning on my way back over to the coast/marina and try that to see if it was a bad gfi outlet.

Don, where exactly is the one in the 'couch' area? I saw an outlet on the wall that separates the table/sitting area from the aft bed, but don't know where you're talking about? If you describe where it is, I'll look for it tomorrow morning, The only outlets I knew of were the ones under the kitchen cabinets, the one between the table seat/aft bed, and the one behind the helm, on the starboard side, above the breaker box panel. Is there another one???

Thanks again guys, I appreciate it....William

I know boats aren't houses so bear with me. From my electrician in Rhode Islander understandable language for me: In a house there should be one GFI breaker per circuit. It should be located on the outlet closest to the power source (line) and all outlets after the GFI are protected (load). When the GFI throws, if wired properly, it shuts down all outlets on the circuit. Any ground fault on any outlet in the circuit could cause the GFI to throw. More than one on a circuit is a waste of money and ofttimes the actual cause of the problem.

There should be a 2nd GFI on the underside of the bulkhead where the main panel is located (I believe this is what was referred to as the "couch area". If you're facing the starboard side, look up under the window & electrical panel and you should see the outlet. It is mounted facing down. Good luck.

I found my tripped GFI under the galley sink. But I'm unfamiliar with the location in your boat.

Guys, first of all, this forum is AWESOME!!! Thank you all for your input and suggestions. I replaced the gfi under the sink in the head and that made ONE of the regular outlets work (the one under the cabinet that sits above the sink). The others (facing the mid-berth and the one on the starboard side of the helm, above the battery switches) still don't work. I will look for the one facing down, near the main control panel (suggested by AJSB), and Don, if those don't work, I'll call you next time I'm at the boat (dry docked over at the marina in Port Canaveral).

Once again, thank you all for your help. I hope to be able to help others like I've been helped so much here already.

Regards,
William

Sorry for the delay in getting back and thanking you, but thanks. Problem is solved now. I changed the gfi under the bathroom sink, and that fixed the outlet in the kitchen, but the one next to the aft bed and the one behind the helm were still out. Then I found the other outlet under the control panel, facing down, that a couple of you mentioned. Never knew it was there. It was indeed a gfi, and just needed to be reset. That fixed the aft bed outlet and the helm one.

So, thanks again guys, I appreciate it. ;-)
