Outdrives swithches

I have 1985 Searay 270 Sundancer. It has twin outdrives. It has a new Mercury dual controls. When I use the original trail buttons they will go up. The trailer swithches on the Throttle Control only work everyonce in awhile. The thumb swith on control only works on Starboard Outdrive. Can someone help?

Check the up down solenoids on the trim pumps to see if they are working correctly. I had a bad down solenoid on mine. The Merc manual had a well detailed trouble shooting procedure for this. If you don't have a Merc manual, I'd suggest getting one as its very detailed.

thanks Scorpio. I have all original manuals and am going through them as we speak. I am going to pull motors since boat is home now and just start going through all wiring in engine compartment and replace or clean... Thank You
