Outdrive issue

Found a crack on both sides of what I am being told is the intermediate drive. This is the section between the outdrive and the transom. The cracks are at the very bottom where the hydraulic lines for the tilt and trim attach. Local guy here in southport NC says it ain't worth fixing.... Says I have areas of delamination and need a new transom which requires motor and outdrive to be removed. I asked about just repairing and he said could but in a trip or 2 the new one would do the same. Said would need new transom or don't bother. Wanted to get you guys to weigh in as the wife is very disappointed currently.

What about the rest of the boat? Putting in a new transom doesn't have to be a death sentence for your boat...especially if you really like the design and layout of it. On the other hand, if the rest of the boat is marginal it may not be worth putting the money into it, there are some great deals out there right now...

If the transom is gone you best be looking at the stringers to be sure they are solid.
