I was wondering if anyone has every had an issue with their outdrive dropping down when stored on a trailer. I have noticed that over time my outdrive drops down as if there is a hydraulic leak but I cannot find any leaks. Any thoughts?

Does the reservoir ever need topping off? Does the drive hold position when it is trimmed while underway? How much time does it take to move....say 1 inch?

the resevoir never needs topped off, the trim stays in position when running. I utilize the trailer blocks for the trim pistons and they are loose when I put the boat on the trailer and after a few weeks they are sitting on the blocks (roughly 1/2").

  • Solenoid valves in the pump are leaking
  • Piston leak in trim cylinder
  • Obstruction kick-up leak in trim cylnder
You need to rebuilt the trim pump for the first or the cylinders for the last two.

Best regards,

To check the piston seals as Frank mentions. Extend both cylinders all the way (drive up) remove the hydraulic line leading to the rod end port on each cylinder. While watching the disconnected cylinder lines, have someone try to raise the drive(extend the cylinders) watch for any oil coming from the disconnected lines. If you see any weeping from either or both lines, your piston seals need replaced.

Reconnect the lines and repeat the same process with the cylinders retracting.
