Out drive shaft

Good Afternoon,

I have a silly question. I was looking around the engine compartment and notice at the back of the motor i can see the shaft for the out drive. I do realize this would be visible. My question is I can see at least an 1/2 in. of the splines sticking out of the back of the motor. Is this normal?

Yup. Sounds about right. The splines are long enough to engage the coupling with that 1/2" sticking out. The amount of splines exposed changes slightly as you turn the steering wheel.
