lake ouachita in arkansas is really high. we had to use a smaller boat to get from shore to the dock. couldn't launch at the normal launch site, so we drove back to where our dock is and launched in front of the dock. figured we knew the lay of land there. so we loaded up the equipment and the wives and set sail for the dock.

wind and high water equalled 3 foot swells, this was our 320's, as well as our, first experience in these kind of conditions. the 320 was flawless. yeehaa.

i'll post some pics when i get them downloaded.

Wow, that is pretty crazy. Our friends up in Greers Ferry Lake, AR said all the boat ramps are under the water because of the high water levels.
Hopefully the levels get back to the normal pool before summer..

Cant wait to see the pictures.

Table Rock Lake near Branson, MO is almost 17 feet above pool and that's down 2 feet over the last 36 hours! Our boat dock is an island but at least it's still connected to shore. Not everyone has been that lucky. The Corps of Engineers are saying it will be months before Table Rock returns to even close to normal. Boating season is going to be very challenging this summer. In addition to the extremely high water we have a lot of hazards now floating all over the lake -- logs, limbs, pieces of docks... We've already had more rain since Jan. 1 than our usual average yearly totals.

We've had flooding issues in years past here in KY as well.

One year, we had to back down the ramp from the parking lot rather than going around the loop. And yet another year while we were on the hook we took a swim. Ended up swimming right next to a few road signs from a parking lot! :)

Most of our lakes are maintained by the corps of engineers as well (man made), and so most have dams that can let a lof of the extra water out.

To me the worst part of flooding is the floating debris. I've had a few gelcoat repairs in the past on both my ski and boat due to hitting slightly submerged floating logs. The ones you can see are fine, its the ones under the surface by 1 to 3 inches that you can't do much about.

Heres the link to the photos I took. Ramps that normally hit ground, lead into the water. The lake sign normally sits on a grassy finger and the bottom of the sign is probably 4 ft off the ground. The pictures from the dock down the ramp is taken from our dock. The posts at the end usually stand about 4 ft tall, you can barely see them!!!!!

Stan...here is our dock...the one your 320 was on. This pic is 2 week old...even higher now...I think about 4 or 5 feet higher. There is at least 75 feet of water to get to the end of the ramp....

That's crazy, I've never seen water that high on that lake before, And to think it was way low only a few months ago, We didn't go out to are boat at Denby this last weekend but I'm sure it looks about the same there, it was up a lot two weekends ago before this last big rain.

More's coming your way boys! Keystone is 25' above.. didn't check today on the corp release but it's not fast enough! heh Lots of large debris too. Wondering if a lot of it isn't from the ice storm.

Ameno, every lake around here is beyond capacity. We've been boating Ouachita since '98 and have never seen the lake this high or this bad!!!!

They tolds us the lake will drain at 3" per day, which means it'll take it 28 days to get back to normal, providing of course there is no more rain!!!!

Please no more rain. Peggy is definately right it will be a very challenging boating season this year. Needless to say we did not get to go see our new boat this weekend, well I suppose we could have looked at it 50 to 75 feet from the shore. How frustrating, for all of us, talking to a friend of mine we are thinking about going in on a john boat together just to be able to get to the boats. However we will not be able to meet up because we are sepparated by the Kimberling city bridge which you now can't get a fishing boat under. It's an incrediable sight, but I think we are all tired of seeing it.
