We had to put our 10 year old black lab to sleep on Thursday so we picked up a 9 week old yellow lab female to keep our 21 month old yellow female company. We took them out today for a few hours so the baby could get use to the water.
She swam like crazy but ended up scared and shaking so we put her back on the boat.
She ended up falling off of the swim platform at one point and had quite the surprise. lol

Here she is getting a little spoiling.

And here are the two babies together.

It was a great day today, right in the low 80's and slightly breezy.

Adorable! We boat with out two black labs. Only major problem is hair, it drives me crazy!!! That last pic absolutely cracks me up. The older dog has a look like "really, you got me a puppy!? I sure hope she's just visiting!". Love it!!

I hear you on the hair Shaun. I plan on getting an 18' bowrider before next summer to fish with and take the dogs out, if my wife had her way they would never step paw on the boat. The big dog just got up from a nap and I had her pose for the camera, she wasn't thrilled.

Beachcomber has officially been declared a "Pet Hair Free Zone" so there won't be any Pugs (or any others) on our boat. GW doesn't like it much, but I gotta have at least ONE area of my life that has no hair in/on it.

Cute pics. I like the last two. The one where the pup is wrapped in beach towels looks like she's saying "You guys didn't warn me that I could fall off this stupid boat!" and the last one definitely looks like the older one is saying what Shaun said.

You know, I love the heck out of my dogs and we took them out quite often on our old boat but we're not going to make it a habit of taking them out on this one.
That's why I plan on getting a smaller not as nice boat next summer.
I just had to take the puppy out and I couldn't leave the other one home.

So the million dollar question, what do you guys do with your dogs when you go?? Doggy daycare? Family watches them? I'd love to leave them behind but their indoor dogs so we kinda feel like we have no choice but to bring them...

My dogs are outdoor dogs and they have a nice pen with two big dog houses.

I think the last picture needs a caption contest. My entry is "Does it do anything else?"

What to do with the dogs is the question of the year. Now that our kids have either gone to college or have their own "life," we are trying to figure that out. The dogs are really cramping our overnighters!

Sorry to hear you had to put your 10 year old friend down....... I dread that day.

Pics are adorable !!! Love the last one with the older one considering what's up.

Thank goodness we have a Cock A Poo that doesn't SHED..... not sure I could deal with in in the house, car, boat, etc.

My neighbor here at the lake just adopted a 15 month old Black Lab that got bounced out of Service Dog School as it had an elbow issue. You wouldn't notice it....... AWESOME dog, fully trained. They even had it carry in some groceries the other day.

Enjoy the new addition !

When we had a dog (she past a year ago) we sometimes dropped her at a kennel near the marina.I would have them bathe her the day we picked her up and she liked the car ride more than the boat rides anyway(especially after the 14 footers in lake erie in 04) go figure.

Some trips he goes along, swims, eats and sheds. Other times, he goes to doggy day care either for the day or overnight. Either way, boat or daycare, he has a blast. I should be him.

Thank you for the condolences everyne, we really miss her but she was in such pain that she didn't eat for the two days prior to putting her to sleep.
It was the best thing I could have done for her. She did eat the morning of (finally) and had some great energy so that really made me feel good.
If we don't take ours along we leave them in the pen and we usually have a kid here that will feed them and love on them.
