Weather here in Alabama is great today- sunny and 70s. Which got me to thinking. As much as we love our boating, there are other things that we enjoy doing when the weather allows.
I love riding motorcycles. I have a BMW K1200LT that I love to just get on put 100 to 300 miles a day on. It's just like boating, its not the destination thats important, its the trip that counts. Except, 300 miles on the bike is only about $20 in fuel.
What are some of the things the rest of you like to do?
Do any of you ride and if so what do you ride?

I bought a ultralight airplane that I'm waiting on.
It should be here by next weekend. :smt038
Its a grasshopper single seater with a 503 rotex engine

Watch the obituaries after I get it.
Hold my beer !! I want to try something. :wow:

It's all about golf on beautiful courses! Now that the doctors have patched me back together (back) I am looking forward to plenty of semi-pain free golf this year! :smt038 :smt038 :smt038 :smt038

I was looking at a Suzuki 1200 Bandit, but someone else bought it. I used to ride a lot, till I found the end of a bridge on a nice sunny day in '82 on the way to work, totaling my brother's new '82 Honda 750 Sabre, and doing a good number on me - ask me about full face helmets sometime, and good leathers! I've also been looking at a BMW R1200RS(t?) type bike.

Kim & I were this close to buying a couple of Harleys 2 yrs ago........was probably a good decision to let it go.

What I really enjoy is yard work. We've go a couple of acres here.....did a total renovation (top soil, tilled & leveled ) on a 14,000 sqft area in the front last year. A lot of work but very satisfying for me. Getting ready to tackle a 60,000 sqft area in the back this spring.

Wayne.... I've got a guy that flies over our house occasionally in one of those powered parachute things......Ken's right....I think the guy's nuts:smt043

That R1200 is a great bike. I love my BMW. It is the Bimmer version of a GoldWing. The R bike is more sporty but still has a great ride. The trick to owning a BMW bike is finding a nondealer to do the nonwarranty work. There aren't a lot of dealers around so their prices reflect that scarcity. B'ham has the only dealer in Alabama. There are however 3 private guys in B'ham who specialize in BMWs and they do great work for half the price.
The R bike is also cheaper to work on as that opposed engine is exposed and bulletproof. The K-LT bikes are completely covered in plastic (tupperware we call it) and there is usually a couple of hours of shop time built in just R&R the plastic.
More and more police departments are going with the R1200s as their bike of choice.
