anyone have any comparisons on exhaust manifolds of who makes the better manifold and risers OSCO or GLM. Or someone else. Thanks for any input

Stay with Mercruiser, but you didn't ask that...............

We know the life span of Mercruiser castings..........check them in year 3 and 4, then replace in year 5 for salt water. The life span for after-market castings is a pure gamble. I've seen some leak in 2 years and others last 4.

Also, the warranties on aftermarket cast iron are effectively worthless. Sure you may eventually get a prorated amount from the manufacturer, but that is worthless since you will already have had to replace the failed castings in order to use your boat. My experience was that it took 8 weeks to ship the castings back to the manufacturer, for them to evaluate them and make a decision and then settle up with us. I was not going to leave my boat decommissioned in hurricane season while some egg-head did metalurgical analyses on bad castings. I replaced them with Mercruisers and lost only 1 day, which is what I should have done in the first place.

GLM crap cost me 4000$ for a new engine. They only lasted 2 years. Do yourself a favor and buy Mercruiser parts.

Frank, he actually did ask that!
Or someone else.

What Frank says. If you are doing this job yourself, take some of the approximately $2000 you will save and buy the right parts. If you are not doing it yourself, demand the right parts.

any good places to buy the mercruiser manifolds. The one place i checked was about $2500 for both motors, does that sound about right? thanks for everyones input

I bought on ebay from Doug Russell Marine. They were on sale at $495 each. shipping to California was another $100.

I can give you a good deal on 2 pairs that i removed from a burn out, they are in very good shape, they are merc. Eric 330-273-8291 or 330-322-8817, mine are center rise with 3" spacers.

B0atfix.com. 280 lbs of cast iron delivered via UPS ground in 2 days for $21. I have always found their prices unbeatable.

they are off of a 1990, been sitting around for 12 years but are in great shape, if you want pics i could get them to you eric

I appreciate it but a little leary, wouldn't know exactly what to expect. can't really see up inside them. Guess if I am putting new motors in I should just buy new ones and be on the safe side. Thanks

Re: Osco or GLM I bought

:smt038Thanks for all the input. ******* was a good bit cheaper than everywhere else for the Genuine mercruiser manifolds and risers. At the last minute decided to check ebay and did find a manifold for $199. From Doug Russels they only had 2, but when I called them 3 times they finally got someone to help me. they told me they would sell me 4 at that price and 4 risers at a $165 a pc. So i saved another $500 plus free shipping. Guess it was worth the 3 phone calls.
