Is there a way to contact Sea Ray and find out exactly what electronics were installed when my 1997 330 Express was built?

I have a Airmar B44 transducer on the port side that looks original. I am wondering what fishfinder or instrument it was originally connected to.

I don't know what good having the knowledge of what used to be on the boat will do you.....for a couple of reasons.

In that period of time Sea Ray offered several electronics packages. Some were installed in the factory and others were installed by the vendor after the boat finished production but while the boat was still at the factory. This was in the days when most electronics were stand alone units, but some makers were beginning to network their own products with a proprietary language. B&G is an example. The factory may have installed the B&G depth gauge, but if an autopilot, plotter, etc were ordered, the B&G distributor usually installed everything else before the boat shipped. The factory build sheet may or may not include electronics that were installed by vendors.

The other problem with researching this is that if a boat were ordered by a dealer for inventory, it was usually ordered without electronics so it left the factory with a blank panel. This allowed the dealer to show and advertise a boat with a price much lower than the total cost a buyer would invest after he added a $35,000 electronics package that was installed by a local vendor near the dealership.

If you have a particular question about what you have, perhaps we can help you.........

I have not yet found a tag on the Airmar B44 transducer cable so I don't know if it was originally installed on a B&G or a Raymarine data instrument. Could have been either one. If I knew what was installed originally I would know if I could reuse that transducer.

Generally speaking, the plug on the transducer cable differentiates what head unit they were for i.e by the number of pins and layout of the pins - so i would start there.

I was able to use my old transducer on my new garmin units. I bought a $69 adapter from garmin, west marine. Easy instructions. Just cut the old plug off the transducer and insert the wires into a terminal block that has the new garmin plug coming out the other end. Fish finder, depth and temp all work.

I managed to trace the end of the transducer cable today and found a 7-pin connector. So, I'm making progress.
