Don't feel bad. I think the PM-1 is a better battery. Compare the spec's. I spent a deal of research time between these two before I put 6 PM-1's in. I negotiated, and got them all for $200 each.

I just bought some Interstate 29M's for $70 a piece. My last set in the 270 lasted 4 years.

I bought 4 EAST PENN 8A31DT AGM Batteries after 1 season with the as delivered Interstate 29M's.
This is the 7th season of use and I never remove them for winter storage.
They are performing as new. I'm hoping for at least 10 years of reliable service.

Agreed, I did a boatload (no pun intended) of research and the overall reviews are better on the PM-1. That, coupled with having a storefront to return the batteries to in the event of a warranty claim, is why I went with the Die Hard Platinum PM-1s. And if you are buying more than 2 you can get them to drop the price. There are a bunch of people here that love their Optimas too though.
