Taking a look at this one this week......Its a 1991 250 Sunancer ($10,000 obo). Who has one and can give me advice. Looking to use it to weekend on and fish off of here on the west coast (Santa Cruz). Not sure of the outdrive I believe he said it was a bravo. I will slip it in the salt full time. The engine is fresh water cooled. Hows it on gas (carbureated) and to fish out of and cruise with.
Thanks!

Not sure on this one. I had a 1990 27DA and loved it. 10K seems a bit pricey though. especially for a 20 year old boat. I like there years and they are big for the number designation on the side. I would look for things like leaks and stains in the headliner around hatches, and also on the side windows. notorious for that. also look for leaks around the bow rails. windshield leaks from worn weatherstripping are common. look for blisters on the hull, esp near chines, small cracks near the waterline etc. this was a down side of some early years. a tip-off could be a raised water line (bottom paint). Check the windlass install too. be sure there should be an access hatch for it. prime target for rot, if not installed right.

Overall this could be a great boat or a dog. you need to get a survey if you are serious. also have a compression test done on engine. possibly an oil analysis too. Blackstone can do this for you. costs $20. fwiw, cruise should be near 27 mph, not 22. check the prop. may be wrong. dont fall for the extra items they list like dual anchors etc. this is crap and you can get that cheap anywhere, make sure the "core boat and systems" are in top shape.

hope this helps.

Thanks for the excellent advice......Just spent 600 week before last having a 26' 1985 Carver surveyed that the salesman said prior I would be able to "frame the survey".......discovered transom rot and the stringer's that the engine sat on were rotted as well........Surveyor said completely structurally unsafe.....passed on that one obviously and this Sea ray has no prior service records and the current owner who has had it for only a year.....is "moving up to a bigger boat"......does not sound right either......Will pass on this one as well........
