I friend asked me what I thought of this boat. Has twin Volvo 8.1 gas engines with duo-prop out drives.

I know nothing about Chaparral. 2009 with 311 hours. They are asking $145K.

Any thoughts?

I have a large chaparral day boat and have been very impressed with the fit and finish along with the structural quality. The 8.1 Volvo is a really good runner and the duo-prop outdrive is actually stronger than the mercury.

Good boats.

Freshwater? Yes. I almost purchased a duo prop outdrive in salt, way too much maintenance $$ (and it was stored out of the water...)

Currently was in Lake Geneva WI for the last 8 years. So in freshwater.

Should be a good boat, price seems a bit high. Chaps are solid although they didn't build many cruisers.

Depending on what he's looking for, a VERY well equipped and maintained '07 Four Winns 338 can be had for over $30,000 less. Southern shores of Lake Michigan.

As an owner of an older Chap ('95 310 Signature), I've been very happy with mine and as a daily reader over at the Chap forum, I'd say most all with cruisers are happy with the quality of their vessel. I have noticed recently several posts complaining of quality issues with new Chaps in the 21-26' range.

I should say mine has twin 5.7 Mercs so I can't speak to the Volvos.
