Opinions on 370 express. $$$$

I've heard that as well, but it must've been a rumor reinforced by the suggestion that bluewater = saltwater. A Bluewater edition, particularly in the Great Lakes is highly likely to have a fully-open cooling system. (which is fine in absence of salt)

My 97's are regular throttle-body electronic FI big blocks. It preceded the Horizon series. They came with the older 3-piece water pump assemblies and the horrific mechanical fuel pump that shares the same shaft. Mine engines have been rock-solid aside from those components. As most people have, I upgraded the water pumps and keep a close eye on the fuel pumps. I've never heard of a 400DA that has had engines ingest water. I'm bummed for Joey that it happened in his 330.

Couldn't agree more on the 7.4 MPIs... they're rock solid but suffer from a terrible water pump & mechanical fuel pump design... the product of the '97 GM block no longer having a location for the fuel pump and Mercruiser being a year behind on designing a complementary electronic fuel pump. I replaced the entire housing last year which set me back $2k in parts. A rebuild was cheaper... but I'm obsessive. I'd recommend keeping an eye on these components, as it's important to flush the tiny gear oil reservoir annually to ensure no fuel has found it's way in.

Well the seller pulled the purchase agreement off the table before signing it. He said a friend of his offered 5k less than me but will take the boat without a survey or sea trial. The boat has been stored for 2 years. I'm not willing to take that risk. So the search continues.

Everything happens for a reason.
After meeting a negotiated price through a broker last June I gave a check for a deposit on a 380 Sundancer, signed a contract with that broker, and made an appointment for a survey. Left the broker who was going to go to the seller and have him sign the contract, and started the long drive home.
I got halfway home when my cellphone rang. It was the broker telling me the seller reconsidered before signing the contract and now wanted 5K more for the boat.
I was mad as he!! and told the broker to tell the seller he could stick the boat up his a$$.
It turned out to be the best thing that could have happened. I decided to go for a 410 instead and found a great one 6 months later.
BTW: the 380 is still for sale, and not only did that seller have to spend the money for summer dockage, winterization and storage, but it's looking like he might have to go for summer dockage again.
