opening engine room hatch with no power

Would that adapter work for any Sea Ray boat, or just the one being discussed?
Would be nice to use this method as the emergency backup on my 270 slx. I have noticed that if I plug in shore power even with the batteries disconnected, the hatch can work. I assume this is ok to do once a year for winterization? - it is drawing power straight from the battery chargers.

This is weird as I would think the hatch is wired into the batteries. Once you disconnect the batteries, you cut off power to the hatch. When you say batteries disconnected, are you saying you removed the cables completely off the batteries, or you turned the battery switches off?

Completely disconnected - cables off.
I learned a lot about this boat before I sold it. I could back feed any 12v socket and open the hatch. All of the wires on this boat were connected to the battery terminal main wire at the clamp. So everything was always tied together even when the batteries were out of the boat. Made winters simple if I wanted to remove batteries for storage.

I do this on my 340 as well. Batteries out for the winter. Back feed thru the "lighter" socket at the helm.
