Open question from my daughter

Didn't you blow up a Bravo 3 hitting a crab pot?

I call the game warden when they encroach upon the channel. People sometimes are deliberately uninformed. Then they say, "who me"? Lots of inconsiderate weekend fishermen out there, settings g pots where they don't belong, or running through a bait ball instead of circling it.

As far as kayaks and paddle boards, out of a no wake zone they get 100' distance or more if available and safe. I don't slow down unless they are in obvious trouble.

Crab pots are bad right now. Coming up the river Saturday I encountered pots in the channel in various stretches of the river from Colonial Beach pretty much to Mt. Vernon.

Experienced the problem of pots in the channel in a few places I've lived. It's amazing how well the Coasties can hide and how fast they can move those big arse RIBs with twin Honda's and a large gun on the bow when the perps came to empty the pots. Funny as hell to the observer. Never pretty on the other side of that gun though..

You have an excellent memory, sir. It was just outside of the entrance to Fairlee Creek on the north side of the marker at Shell Point. My insurance company is lighter a little over $10K because of it, too. That one had a 10' line on it. but it was sitting in 12-14' of water. Not quite enough for the float to reach the surface...

So yeah... I have a problem with folks setting pots near channels... :smt013

Ouch. I wish fish and game would step up enforcement.

Boo sat down with me tonight and went thru all of your posts. I also let her read the CG rule 6. Funny thing with that, she has the rule book on her phone.

She he sat there for a minute or two and came up with this. We, the boaters are responsible for our wake and any damage done, BUT the self propelled boat/boards should use common sense and stay out and away from larger boating areas (channel). She also put it this way, he with the most lug nuts wins!

She now strongly advises all shallow draft (paddle craft) to stay clear of boating channels. And as David can tell you, we have two bridges. She very strongly advises them to stay out of the channel and away from what we call the hole in the wall.

WDC, she is taking lessons backing our 300 into the slip. She had a kayaker cut behind the boat as she was backing. She handled it well, pushing the boat into forward. She had a few choice words for that boat.
