Hi All,

We are considering taking the kids to Disney World in Florida in the next couple of years and I was wondering if it was possible to hire a large enough vessel to cruise one way up the ICW for a week? We would like to fly into Orlando to do the Disney bit then make our way to the closest departure point on the ICW and cruise it for a week then fly out of a northerly port.

Is this possible or do you really have to have your own boat for the ICW?

There are a few places around me that do large boat rentals but the requirement to drop the boat somewhere up the ICW would be a deal killer I suspect. You might have more options if you could plan a trip that would return the boat to its origin.

Well I guess that would work too, we could always fly out of Orlando again if need be.

Last time we were in Orlando was back in 1993 but we drove from there through NC then GA, TN, AL, back around the Panhandle to St Petes.

This time we would like to take a more liesurely approach as we will have our 10 year old girl and 5 year old boy to entertain. :smt001

A few years back, my now ex and our son along with 2 other couples rented a 65' Houseboat on the St. Johns River, about 45 min North of Orlando, from a place called Hontoon Landing.
They no longer rent them but the link below is in the same general area and does rent these boats.
All in all in was great relaxing vacation.

We also have rented from Chitwood Charters out of Sarasota.
Great location, good people to deal with.

Started chartering on the West Coast with Southwest Florida Yacht Charters out of Ft. Meyers 23 years ago.
They also are located in Burnt Store Marina in Charlotte Harbor.
Vic and Barb are originally from Chicago, where I am located.
GREAT PEOPLE AND BUSINESS!!!

Hope this helps.

WOW, thanks Dan that 40" Sea Ray looks fantastic, then again so does the 43"Silverton. These were in the yachts available from SWFYACHTS.

This is just the info I was looking for.

I can tell you from experience you cannot go wrong with SWFYachts.
Vic and Bar are Great and still after all this time, 'hands on'

As a lot of the CSR guys will attest, lots of great waters to explore in their area.
