I have an Onan diesel generator (model MDKDN) in my 2017 boat. Generator has about 500 hours on it. Runs great and puts out great power.

Yesterday I was doing annual oil change which caused me to run the generator with the sound shield door open and I noticed water running into the pan. Water is coming from behind the generator, so I could not see where it was coming from without removing all the sound shield panels (which I did not have time for). It is bigger than a drip, more like a trickle, and it only occurs when running. I'm hoping it is just a loose clamp on outbound water hose.

I'll take the shield off next weekend and figure out the source, but wondering if anyone has seen this before.

    Thanks

    Scott

Loose hose clamp is my guess. Is the water pump on your viewing side. If so, then not that.

Take a look at were the stainless steel exhaust tube meets the exhaust manifold.
On my I can see some rust around that area with a rust stain running down the generator, I am going to take this apart and change the gasket over the winter.
I have a friend that had to change the exhaust manifold due to a leak were the SS tube meets the exhaust manifold.

Thanks. The raw water pump is on the visible side, but the leak is coming from the back side of the generator. I'm hoping it is just a loose connection where the water gets expelled.

Thanks. I'll look at that this weekend.
