John-
We have long wanted to come to Knoxville on the boat (I should say Bill has long wanted to come by boat). This may be the year as our daughter is in the band at UA and they will travel to Knoxville this fall for the last time (I hope) of her college career. We came to the game two years ago and spent some time on the river during a pep rally on a paddlewheeler. Everyone looked like they were having a great time. There were lots of Alabama flags and UT flags flying!
Many years ago, the UA Alumni in Chattanooga started hosting a pep rally and the band and cheerleaders stop there on their way to Knoxville. So the weekend started there at lunch on Friday. Two years ago I think there were almost a thousand people there. It was a fun time.
Then it was on to Knoxville. We stayed at the Hilton and walked down for the cruise hosted by the UA Alumni of East Tennessee (included some band members and cheerleaders) on Friday night, then the game on Saturday after lunch at the Copper Cellar. We won the game, but who cares...what a great weekend. Knoxville is a great college football town. Nothing like a stadium that overlooks the Tennessee River!
