Decided to make my own carpet after reading many threads of those who have done thier own cuts. I found a patern I liked at the remnant store for $70, its enough to probably do two boats. I made a patern with some 6MM plastic $20, that was not easy either. Had the remnant store cut out the floor carpet using the patern $13. I test fit and trimmed the carpet to fit and will be taking it back to the store and have it bound for $1.50 a running foot. My plans are to remove the snaps on the floor of the boat and have the back of the carpet sprayed with white Rhino Liner non skid. The only thing I am not sure about at the moment is the hole I need to cut for the cockpit table. I had found a ring that snapped on carpet at one time and thought I bookmarked it but cant find it again. The remnant shop cannot bind it with their machine and I dont want to cut a straight line to the side of the carpet to allow binding. They did offer me the binding material in case I want to use a glue gun to bind. Just looking for suggestions or any critic other than I should have had it done professionally, I like the pride of doing it myself.

Thanks

The table hole can't be that big...take them up on the binding material and sew it on by hand.Shouldn't take more than an hour if you take your time to make it look good. Just my 2cents.

Your idea should work fine. You could also use tool dip, or RV roof coating.

The carpet I got from Great Lakes is cut all the way through to achieve the hole. I assummed it was because of the binding and now I know. That is the way the pro's do it.

I am going to find a real pro, an 80 year old little lady in a rocking chair with a needle and thread...LOL

I think its not necessarilly the pros, but the commercial businesses that do that since its faster and easier. If it was around a permanent fixture like a seat leg it would be a different story for me...

I'm not disagreeing about easier and faster but wanted to let you know that's how most are doing it. I think it will look better your way.

I was just giving you a hard time...

I see you are in St Pete. I was just down that way not long ago. The Health Department is one of my customers. I took a few pics while visiting the beaches, I love the water at the far south beach...

I could think of a few worse places to live. I've been here since 1983 and will never leave (unless someone paid me a ton of $$$$).
