Hey all,

Motored out, found a nice spot to anchor. Have been here for almost an hour since engine shut down, Genny not running.

We are sitting out in the cockpit, heard the alarm, investigated.

It is the CO Alarm going off.

I opened the vent over the bed, and have the door to downstairs open.

Any ideas? Was planning on spending the nite, won't if this keeps going off.

What would cause it to go off, with no engines running?

Assistance appreciated. thanks

Low batteries? Does it have a readout? If no source of combustion, I can't see where it's detecting co.

This the factory searay monitor. Does not have replaceable batteries that I can tell. And I think power issues are 1 beep every 30 seconds, I am getting 4 rapid beeps every 5 secs which means alarm condition.

It quit. Opened the top vent and the bathroom vent. Any ideas why that happens.

It may be at the end of its life. It should have an expiration date on it.

FYI, 4 beeps/5 seconds sounds like a real CO alert alarm. However, if it is the original unit it is already old enough to signal an end-of-life alarm too. From the owner's/installation manual:

SYSTEM Green LED Red LED AUDIBLE STATUS INDICATOR INDICATOR HORN
Normal: On Off Off
Warm-up: On On Off
Alarm: On Flashing 4 Beeps 5 sec. Silence
Remote Alarm: Off Flashing 4 Beeps 5 sec. Silence
Fault: Off Flashing Int. Beep (30 sec.)
EOL: Off On Int. Beep (30 sec.)
Hi/Lo Voltage: Flashing Off Int. Beep (30 sec.).

End-of-Life (EOL)
The unit is equipped with a 5 year EOL timer. This timer is continuously operated
independently from a lithium battery. When the timer has run for 4 years and 11 months
from the date of manufacture, the unit will signal the first EOL (green LED – Off, red LED
– On, horn – Int. Beep every 30 sec.) alarm.
While the unit is EOL alarming, press and hold the test/silence button until both lights
come on. This is will reset the device to normal operation for 72 hours. This process
can be repeated during the next 30 days. After this time the unit will continually signal
EOL and will no longer detect CO. (unit must be replaced)

If no known source of CO is present the batteries are to blame. CO is colorless and odorless, could a passing boat have affected you? Change of wind direction move some CO from the cockpit to cabin. You need extra detectors on a boat you have a gennie on. I carry 2 portables in addition to the built-in...

TY for the description of the EOL timer, no idea about that. From looking at the alarm codes, I do think this was a CO detection.

Engines had not run for a while, Genny had not been started today. Thinking passing boat.

Opened the top hatch, it quit, havent heard anything else.

thanks for the input.
