SO I picked up an old used generator, it has the Nissan 988 (4) cyl
hasn't run in god knows how long, hour meter says 433
turns over decently but had no spark, new points and coil installed
I now have a healthy spark
Problem is I have no compression or vacuum
pulled the valve cover, valves move, things look fine
pulled intake and exhaust manifold, nothing noteworthy
manual talks about timing marks on crank pulley and cam pulley
but I can't find anything on the crank pulley, on the cam there is a 0 stamped
about where the pic in the manual shows it
does anyone know how the crank pulley mark corresponds to the crank key ?
also will the pistons hit the valves if radically out of time ?
trying to avoid pulling the head since a new headgasket is probably pretty rare
thanks in advance for any and all help
