The First time was a dream.
The Second went wrong from start. Leaving the marina the boat started runing rough get out into the open slow push the throttle until it was wide open boat was up the temp but not hot. would plan but it was still like I was pushing the boat though the water. It was missing idleing low then as we were leaving some outs after backing in the sun it had turned night my wife beside me we were alone. slowly making our way to the marina life on the decks were assume I was babing it because I was sure what could be but at the last moment I decided to open her up and bam it just up on plan and took off?
What could cause such an day.
oh its a Sundancer 250 1985 OMC String 800 with a Chevy 350

Wet distributor cap maybe? If that is an "85 motor, that might be the cause. Check for corrosion or a bad seal on the cap.....

LOL Im not telling my wife its here fault I will do both seafoam and cap rotor

and Capecodcruiser its just English I speak and why so harsh

Not to be harsh, but if you want help and can't put together a basic structured sentence, makes it tough to answer, "LOL Im not telling my wife its here fault I will do both seafoam and cap rotor", proof reading could be your friend. I am not commenting anymore on this subject!

Took my srv sundancer out for first time as shake down went pterrp good the first run went up to about three quarters throttle then back down enough to to get the secondarys to open then started to bring back up got about 1/5 throttle started to bog sputer pop limped in to ramp pulled boat out then checked carb found secondary choke stuck open linkage worn found nothing else fine after replace rod

It must still be winter where you two are....

Parker, when was the last time the motor was tuned up or the Rochester carb cleaned? Seafoam is a great start. Pull the fuel separator and drain it into a glass to see if you have water in the fuel. Go on and pickup a cap, rotor, and pickups. At the least a cap. Once you remove a older cap you can tear the cork seal around the base.

Our old Rochesters can be very fussy. Check the choke and all the linkage. While the flamearrestor is off clean it. It does sound as if the choke was stuck.

If it's been a great deal of time since the last tuneup just go on and do it all. Plugs, cap, rotor, pickup, plug wires, fuel filters, oil and filters, and plugs.

All of these things I have listed you can do yourself and save yourself some money.

Let us know what you find and good luck

Dumb question: Was the drive down?
The guy that bought my old boat called me a week or so later in a panic. Told me that the boat was just plowing water and couldn’t get up to speed.
Turned out he had the drives up. He put them down and went on his way.
