Hubby's big 40 is in 3 weeks, I am throwing him a spectacular party.....but I don't know what to get him for his birthday. So I need some ideals (besides a STRIPPER) there will be no stripper in my home.:smt100

He likes golf, boating and I think those are his only hobbies besides watching t.v. and I think I mainly like boating, but he likes to come along.

I am starting to freak a little bit.....because I can't think of anything.:smt089

I am also a female, so I can't say exactly what the guy might want. But, what if you two went away for a weekend - somewhere with 5-star golfing. Then you could spend the day doing whatever you enjoy (think spa :), lounging by the pool or beach), and he can go play golf. Then you could go to a nice restaurant together.
Or, you could be "really" nice, and make it a boys weekend & send him with a friend.

For me the Mrs did a surprise dinner with some of my close friends and family..... and then took me home to meet the stripper!

Thank you, one for taking the time to post a suggestion and two because that is an awesome idea. I am off to research that on the internet and see if I will have to take out a second on my house to afford it. :) Let's hope not, my house isn't worth as much as it once was.

One year my wife gave me a Ravens shirt for Christmas, I thought OK this is cool. She said "check the pockets". She placed in the pocket two Ravens football tickets. I was ecstatic. Not sure of your location but if he has a favorite team it’s an idea.

Kind of a clever gift on her part as she got to share….

would love to be able to do that and I might still....His team is Denver and we are 12 hours away. But his family is still living there so we might be able to work something out like that.

You guys are great!!! I can't thank you enough. I am making a list now. Keep 'em coming!!!

That's exactly what my wife did. Except she took me to a hotel to meet the stripper - actually the stripper started in the car, then the elevator...Anyway, I couldn't have asked for a better birthday, or present.

Make a weekend out of it…. If you want to make it real surprise take a Cheerleader outfit.

How about a weekend in Memphis -- not too far away, some good restaurants, maybe stay at the Peabody Hotel, there are some good golf opportunities nearby, some touristy-type places to go and things to do. We've gone there for weekend getaways several times. Another weekend getaway was New Orleans, pre-Katrina, made possible by a cheap fare on Southwest and a great hotel deal.

Actually weekend getaway trips are always welcome gifts, time to unwind. Best part is you both get to enjoy it!

My wife and I went to Cabo San Lucas last week for my big 5-0. While there she bought me a new Tag Heuer watch (Carrera). All black face (goes with the black hull on the boat:)).

Love it! best b-day gift ever!

I turned 40 last Dec. We had just bought the boat, so that was good enough for me.

You've been given lots of great ideas, but you already know us guys like food and your own private strippers, the rest is fluff.

I forget where you are, but if the boats still not winterized because you don't need to, a slow cruise to a waterside dinner with a couple of friends and their spouses would be good.

you guys are so awesome. I like the thought of the weekend getaways and hey a bigger boat sounds great too!! I may have to actually rob a bank for that one though. Thanks Jeff for the links to the places at the lake. I like the weekend getaway ideal we have 4 kids so any time we get to go with out them is a treat. Even if it's just to use our own boat, I don't think we get to use it enough.

I just got done at the ordering all the food, woo hoo! I have a great dj coming (lol well he thinks he's great any way) The friends and family are invited, I have to decide what to serve for drinks, I think I need a bartender....wouldn't that be great? But I am already spending a bundle for the party itself.....He may FREAK.

Give him a massage.

Wow....great thread, but... I can't remember what happened on my 40th....that was more than a quarter century ago. I vote for the wife being the stripper...I would have liked that.:smt001

I hate to admit it, I can't even remember my last birthday...:smt013
