I have an oil slick out the back of my boat even after running for hrs:smt024, could this be caused by pin whole leak in the transmission oil cooler. The engines are a 7.4 lt..... any help would be great...

All levels look ok maybe down just a little, I also noticed a while ago that there was a slight off color pink in the trans, but since then drained a refilled and still looks good. :smt101

Yep. Been there, done that.

Was able to change the cooler and flush the transmisson without damage. I would suggest taking the cooler to a competent radiator shop to see if they can pressure test it. A leaking oil cooler could also make a sheen on the water.

Running rich will also wake sheen on the water. A stuck choke, bad plugs, mis-adjusted carb or bad gas can also cause this.

Thanks going to look at carb today, plugs are new this year, I will fire both up at the same time and watch carb action and compare. Tuff to get that cooler off on that side hopefully last option. Does any body have a sight for engine manual 454 7.4 1989 sedan bridge

carb looks fine nothing sticking, not sure how to adjust the carb , might need some help on that one
