oil leak on Bravo 3

I have lower unit oil comming out by the prop on my bravo 3. Anybody have any idea what would cause this and also how to fix it.

It sounds like the prop shaft seals might be bad. I would take it to your dealer who can pull the props and pressure test it (if necessary). Have you noticed the fluid level dropping in the reservoir?

During my upper seal failure this spring we discovered that pressure testing can actually hide a leak problem. In our case the drive yoke that goes into the upper housing had worn at the seal (and leak). When we pressure tested the drive on the boat it would hold pressure like a champ. It wasn't until we took the drive off that we discovered the seal was bad.

That's why you should try a vacuum test as well.:smt001
PS, Also try spinning the props, ect while testing, to see if you lose any air.

100% chance the lower carrier bearing assembly is bad.They are about $400 but they rarely come out if the drive shows any corrosion.

If you get the props off and that's what it is I have a very low hours lower leg Bravo 3 for sale.It is a late model with the dual anodes and has ZERO corrosion.It has about 40hrs on it max.
