2 years ago, I replaced my 8.1 engine with a long block. It has maybe 100 hours on it. On the last outing, while at idle speed, it just quit, like it ran out of fuel. Limped it home and during inspection, the oil looked like milk! Outside of a possible head gasket, I’m wondering if it could have been a oil cooler issue. Would a failed fuel cooler cause water to pollute the engine?

Both of those coolers are raw water cooled and your engine is closed cooled so no to them. Your oil pressure will be much higher than the water pressure so that's doubtful it could enter there. Failed heat exchanger, head gasket or cracked head or block. Pressure test the system before taking anything apart

Did you reuse the manifolds and elbows? If you did I bet they have failed.

No, I bought them new when I replaced the motor. The oil pressure was great up until it quit.

First thing I’d do is get that oil out. It’s not doing any good sitting in the motor. Next pull the plugs and rotate to get the water out of the cylinders. Right now she is hydrolocked and you need to get the water out of the motor. Being FWC it could be the gasket between the riser and the manifold has failed.

If it’s only a two year old motor does it still have warranty?

I’d be able to figure that out once removed, thanks. Also, in checking the compression, what is the proper reading?

I just checked mine and they were all around 180 psi with north of 600 hours.

Just remember to pull plugs first
