After pulling both engines to perform some repairs to engines and bilge, I decided to try and eliminate those oil drain hoses that I never used since I use a vacuum pump to pull oil through the dipstick tube during oil changes. I searched for alternate drain plugs but could not find ones that would work with the dipstick tube setup on the 4.3 engines. I decided to order 2 new hose assemblies and modify the threaded fitting for the oil pan drain. I had the threaded banjo fitting cut off from the hose fitting then had the hole brazed with brass. I have attached photos for anyone else that wants to eliminate the hoses.
