Oh now I see what your looking at. Yes drain hose for floor hatch which you can access the ER without lifting the entire deck. Used for quick inspections when running or finished a run. My Actuator to lift the floor requires 1500lb lift TorqueSeymour at $7.00 a can vs cat @16.99 ?

We really need the mid cabin for our use so the DA was the only option but the access you get in the EC engine room is really awesomeOh now I see what your looking at. And it failed once. Trying to buy one was a nightmare. So I rebuilt it Fortunately
Having the mid engines and straight drives is what I wanted. We have the side bedroom with bunk beds for when we had the kids on board. Now it luggage and other stuff. We really need the mid cabin for our use so the DA was the only option but the access you get in the EC engine room is really awesome
Well I’m very Anal and have a lot of timeSchool me on how you paint your engines. I'm assuming clean with a good degreaser and remove any visible rust? Use a piece of card board as a edge so you don't over spray?
I now see what you guys mean about the intake heater. I tested both mine today and they definitely pull the voltage down and it’s very clear when they click off.
Years ago it freaked me out and I had to have Frank talk me off the ledge... lol !!!
That price $15.70 on Amazon now. I think they musta heard about comparable on Cat paint, lol. This is what HO Penn suggested I use

Love the sound of kitty Cat's purring!First start of 2021 after lots of maintenance. Nervous moment but no leaks and started instantly. I fired it on the hose to avoid any surprises next Friday when we go in

Anyone replace the drain plug on the racors with a valve? Any idea what the thread size is?
I believe we have RA500’s

Thanks Frank. While $50 is certainly an expensive valve it's not too bad in boat dollars I'll keep the 900MA upgrade in mind as wellOne of the things that you learn by experience is when to use aftermarket or
"el-cheapo" parts on your boat. The Racor drain valve is one of those things.
The glass bowl isn't glass but is plastic. If you assemble and disassemble the bow enough, the threads in the plastic bowl wear or crumble. Therefore, try to do this one time.
The metal "fire protector" isn't a fire protector but is a heat shield to protect the plastic bowl from the heat generated in your engine room.
Racor makes a ball valve for this exact purpose. They are a bit pricey but are far superior to aftermarket or home brew short cuts:

I'm not advocating that you buy from Amazon; this was just a convenient photo and description.
Also, one thing you should consider doing is upgrading your Racors from single 500MA's to a pair of 900MA's on each side. The 500 MA filter flows only 60 GPH while a single 900MA flows 90 GPH and dual 900MA's flow 180 GPH almost 4X your present capacity. This could easily save you a tow home if you happen to get a bad load of fuel.
