Official 510 DA Owners Group

View attachment 143447 We are the proud new owners of a 2000 510 sundnacer, moved up from a 2000 410 with gas engines. Boat is being transported over the road from DC to Michigan. Excited for this new journey as this boat seems bigger then just the 10' extra. The Cat 3196's will be a new animal for me but have done a lot of research on them and the boat itself and this site has helped a lot so far.
Any advice for the new owners is appreciated and welcomed, thanks in advance.
Congrats, and what an awesome way to start the season! We did the same upgrade you are doing from a 410 - 510. It feels much larger than a 10' jump. IMO the 510 is a great for the buck being it's the biggest 51 foot boat I have ever stepped on. The 3196 provides a great cruise speed with reasonable economy, and the boat is an absolute wave crusher. You are going to love that boat. Best of luck with your new ride!

Congratulations! That is a nice jump in size for sure. The beam alone will make you giddy! We bumped up from a 460 to the 510 last August, what a huge difference that was.

Over the road to Mich., wow, what a haul. Will they need to take the hard top off or will it go with just the electronics coming off? Whereabouts in Michigan will you dock her? The CAT 3196's were new for me also, but I like the fact that mechanics are everywhere for them. Enjoy your summer!
Thank you and the transporter said only to clear the hard top and he can transport without removing. I am looking forward the size jump and power of the 3196's. We are in Harrison Township on Lake St Clair.

The comfort and stability of the wide beam will be noticeable - you'll really like that. As an FYI - In the hardtop supports are connectors for everything above; even the air horn. Don't cut any of the wiring; especially the radar. Disconnects are in the access covers. Pull the wiring up with a fish-tape attached.

The new canvas is finally complete! Just in time for launch day this Friday.

More finishing touches before launch day!
Bow hatch for shore power cord, replaced Starboard material cupholders and new boot stripes.

The absolute LAST item off my winter checklist is finally complete!! Due to this vessel not being built with cockpit AC, there was never a return air vent installed behind the seat like the factory would do. There are two 12k units under the rear seat and they were "starving" for air. I had my friend at Pro Image build this vent for me so that we could allow at least some air flow to the units. It was cut and powder coated in his shop. All I had to do was cut the opening and drill 6 screw holes.

I tested it today and the airflow going through the vent is pretty impressive. Count down to launch day;

Sweet! You might consider getting a filter behind the return grill. Those condenser coils will crap up in no time without one. Dometic makes a pretty slick carbon filter in a host of different sizes.

Yes sir! I have it, just didn't install it before this pic. Of course both the AC units have a filter on the intake as well, so it may be redundant, but probably worth it.

hey guys - long time lurker, but wanted to share some pics of my 510 i picked up last summer. made a few upgrades last season (stamoid, backlit SS letters, and a host of repairs) but am looking to do full electronics this season. what size screens does everyone have on the panel to the left of the helm? im going with garmin and am deciding between 16 and 10, 16 and 12, or 12 and 12 (least likely option at this point). any pics or guidance?

here are some pictures of my upgrades so far:

hello, I am suppose to be on Amber 130 but they haven’t had the well ready for quite a few months so they have me on Evergreen right now.
We are live aboards so stop by this weekend if you’d like

We finally have the boat back in Michigan and in the water, all the cabin air conditioning units are working but the cockpit air isn’t on. Do I need to have both the 240 and 120 plugs plugged into shore power?

How much for the table and base?

no - you only need the 240 plug. sometimes the thermostat reads incorrectly (ie - it thinks the room is cooler than it is) which will stop the AC from turning on. try setting it as low as it will go to see if that triggers it.

Thank you, it doesn’t even light up like the other ones so I’m thinking either a breaker is tripped or something else

My cockpit AC's breaker is listed as "Accessory" on the 240 panel.

If that isn't it, you may want to check the Pump Relay trigger in the engine room Marinaire control box.

As a last resort, maybe the actual control panel itself is shot. First try swapping it with a working panel. (Super easy, pop the cover, 4 screws and a plug). If it works with the swapped control, you found the issue. Here is the best place I have found to purchase a new control panel. (if you have the SMXII control)
