Yes, I’m using the coat hanger trick along the port side stringer but I can’t reach into the hole under the stairs. I think you are right the cable puller is likely the way to go.

What did you use as your step trim / edge capping and how did you create the necessary curves around the step?

Has anyone replaced their Seafire Halon fire extinguisher in the engine room?
After 25 years mine has just gone below the recharge limit and now triggers the engine / blower shutdown mechanism.

The new SeaFire fire extinguisher for 800 cu Ft is much longer than the original Halon one and I'm not sure it will fit easily.

It also comes at an eye-watering $11,000 once currency conversion + hazard chemical shipping to NZ, so I'll be leaving the Halon one there for now and loading some Elide fire extinguisher balls ($250 ea) at various points instead.

Mine still shows a charge, but had to replace the failed dash switch.

I'm a big fan of the ELIDE fire suppression balls, moved 2 from the previous boat to the 450, then added 2 more of the larger size as the engine room volume is much bigger.

I did but not in your boat. The replacement takes more chemical than the old for the same CF. You can tilt the bottle to a certain degree but horizontal isn't acceptable. I had a discussion with one of the dealers two years ago at FLIBS; they ended up getting me set up. I found a way to fit the new bottle pretty close to where the original was but was considering moving the fuel filters at one point.

I replaced mine about 2 years ago with a SeaFire replacement. I worked thru my local Sea Ray dealer and they hooked me up with a contact at SeFire that sole the replacement to me directly at a reasonable price.

The new bottle is a bit larger and required adjusting the mounting bracket a bit to fit the new size bottle, other than that is was a complete "plug and play" change.

changing the forward HVAC filter under the bed?

Interesting. On mine, once the mattress board is lifted and locked up and the storage bin is lifted out, the filter is readily accessible.

My tray lifts out with out screws.

Mine has screws, but it was pretty easy to remove the center boards and change the filter this way.

Walker Air Separators for Cat 3116ta install.

I am now a ninja yoga master able to operate effectively in a sauna at 100 degrees.
If you have ever done any maintenance on your port engine turbo air inlet filter you will know what I mean. How do people fit back behind the port engine without being a skilled contortionist?

Anyway, successfully installed Walker AirSeps on both Cat 3116 engines to delete the nasty open breather pipe that dumps excess blow-by oil on the inlet filter at high RPM’s and then drips onto the bilge floor when the filter soaks through.

This pic on the Starboard engine was my first attempt. I have since repositioned to get better clearance under the aftercooler and removed the Nito tape.

This is a really worthwhile upgrade.

I've heard that this will also reduce engine noise at cruise.

That nice, pink color makes me wonder if I need to change out the elements on mine.
