Couple of questions on these boats. First, is there a quick cheat sheet on these with what to look for? Is one year preferred over others? Any preference between the 350 and 420hp options?

I prefer the galley to port and so far it looks like all that I have looked at online (20+) have the white cabinets. Does anyone has pics of the interior floor converted to vinyl flooring? Has anyone tackled the job of making the interior look a little more modernized by resurfacing the cabinets?

Trying to get a feel for what is possible on these boats.

I do not think they made any with the port side galley and the Maple or Cherry interiors since that came part way though 1997 when they changed the layout to the starboard side galley.

I have the white white interior in my 400 and I love it. Originally I was going to wrap some of the cabinets with the 3M Dinoc material that had a wood grain feel and look. They have lots of options if you would choose to wrap and the interior could be much more updated that high gloss cherry.

Thoughts on these from a survey? Typical readings for a boat of this age?

1) Port side Aft. Quarter Stern - 6% Indicates normal moisture content
(2) Starboard side Aft Quarter Stern 8% Indicates normal moisture content
(3) Port side Deck -4% Indicates normal moisture content
(4) Starboard side Deck -2% Indicates normal moisture content
(5) Engine room stringers -10% Indicates normal moisture content
(6) Top Deck area -5% Indicates normal moisture content
(7) Bow Deck - 4% Indicates normal moisture content
(8) Swim Platform -37% Indicates elevated moisture content.

Obviously if I pursue this boat I would be there during the survey and want every area analyzed closely.

It all looks good to me except swim platform. I would want to know where exactly was the elevated moisture on the platform and how much of platform is elevated. It may not be much but I am sure you will check it thoroughly. Good luck. JC

Another picture request. Description says sleeps 6 but I have yet to see a picture of the salon/dinette area converted to a bed.

Can anyone share a pic of their sleeping setup for 6?

Thanks.

I think that's the guys that have the electric couch in the salon and that's not me...

Are replacement swim platforms available for these boats? Trying to think ahead for pricing options if it would be easier to replace the platform rather than have it repaired.

You need to examine how the platform is made before you even price replacements. It would be fairly easy to remove and replace the bottom fiberglass layer and the core, then replace the core with a foam core.

But if you are considering a boat with a damaged swim platform, you need to have the transom of the boat surveyed because the platforms on 450's are almost indestructible and will withstand a lot........if the platform was destroyed then there is very likely some significant damage to the transom structure as well.

Thanks Frank. It's only a small area of where the ladder is attached on to the swim platform. No damage, no cracks, nothing structural just an area of delamination on the platform itself. Since it's a bolt on swim platform I didn't know if a replacement was available to purchase.

Thanks to Frank W, we replaced our stock crappy curtains with Bali 1" wood blinds from blinds.com. I made the mistake of thinking the two master stateroom blinds would be identical and they are not. I called blinds.com yesterday to ask if I could cut off 2" they said no, as they are sending a replacement free of charge under their No-Fault Guarantee !!!
