Official 400EC thread

Also gutted the cockpit for new vinyl.....looks. Like a bomb went off. Should all be done by first week of April...then I can reinstall.

What thickness did you use for the carbon fiber?
 
I just started replacing all my cockpit vinyl as well. I started with the seat cushion next to the sink and the plywood had a little rot. Unfortunately, this probably won’t be the only one needing new plywood.

I seriously thought about going all digital but, our boats are pretty old and so am I, never know what issue will pop up next especially if im heading to Bimini with the family. I like the comfort of having both.

Oldie but a goodie....no plans to sell, Love the design and layout, not to mention the profile. It's just something I want to do. My kids can deal with it. Projected cost to go all digital is $1800

Yeah, I'm all in at 1000, just spent another 1000 on stereo and speakers. My boat is pretty clean, just hasn't been loved for a few years so I have a ton of small costs to get it perfect. AND the Admiral is watching! We just bought a house in ft lauderdale, I was forbidden from even buying a boat immediately so I have to tread lightly lmao
 
I replaced my dash last year. Flounder Ponder offers a complete set of replacement panels for the dash so I went with that because you could get the system monitor panel already etched in. I then installed three multi-function displays which allows me to have three functions up or switch between the radar, depth, plotter, cameras, etc.

Looks great for sure. I have a 7608 Garmin in place for navigation and depth finder/sonar and adding 2 more 7 inch Garmins, one for each engine.

Was lucky when I did the total tear down, had no rot to deal with. I was holding my breath as I took it apart.

Going to get rid of the obsolete data log and depth finder displays and clean up the dash while I am at it. Just keeping the old UHF. Going with new switch covers and possibly new switches....going away from backlit panels and going to backlit switches instead. Systems monitor is another issue. working with the plastics guys to see what we can come up with.

Can anyone recommend a good surveyor to look at a 400 express in Branford, Ct. ? My surveyor is down south for a few more weeks, and obviously, we’d like to close the transaction as long as the survey comes back clean.

UPDATE;
I’m all set, thanks to a number of references both on CSR, and the SeaRay Facebook groups. Survey booked for next week

Would love to go full digital, but I thought our boat was too old. Has anyone done it?

Can you get new lit switches that are labeled?

as long as your engine has ECM output for code reader, you can do it. I have 7.4 MPI engines. Series V. I am using Fox gateways to slave the data from the engines and run into the NMEA 2000 backbone. Bingo!

Did you do the work yourself? $1800 sounds reasonable for that
