Official 390DA Thread

Definitely "spring time" DLS and water getting turned on next week. TV! Well last year went to great lengths to watch my NY Jets march to the SB. Well that did not happen but I did get a TV. I am new owner and PO had some connections for a TV behind the helm seat for viewing around the table (2006 DA). I chucked the 120V ac to 12v DC inverter brick and just went with 32" samsung straight 120v. Got a chrome plated little pole and mounted TV to it. The tv was just a low end model $200- and only watched it a couple times. Cannot imagine any tv (even those $$$ 4000 NIT jobs) would not get washed out in direct sun. I did have Glomax supported coax already at tv but I think some kind of hot spot feed to a smart tv is the way to go. Maybe football will be better for me this year...could not be any worse!
I hear ya I’m a giants fan, same results last season, I’m on Long Island btw. I bought a 27” lg smart tv last fall, same mount right behind helm seat, tv washed out in sun for sure, so I was going to move that tv to the interior and try another brand outside. As far as getting internet, I wound up getting the home internet from T-Mobile (30$ a month) works amazing. It runs off regular outlet so need shore power or generator running but my tv’s are all 120v anyway so it’s gotta be on for that also. Very happy with this internet option.

@Jacks-N-Rays & @Blueone What is the advantage of that T-Mobile Home Internet versus just streaming from your phone? I just did a quick check and the T-Mobile site says that you get unlimited 5G at your "approved address". Do the speeds change when you move around?

Basically the advantage is that your not using your phone to give all your devices and tv internet, I’m sure the speeds vary but so far haven’t had any issues with mine, streamed movies from Netflix, live tv like football games stuff like that no hiccups. The only thing I haven’t really tried is loading it up by pulling data on multiple devices. It also makes it alot easier to do gps software updates which is nice. Could even be used for security purposes if u wanted to leave a camera on the boat or something like that

I should also say that I switched to T-Mobile from Verizon and they paid off 3 iPhones on my account so even with adding that home internet thingy I’m still saving 80$ a month on the bill, so I kind of looked at it like it was free

Any recommendations for replacing my Sea Ray Navigator & Raymarine radar? I want to get the SRN replaced with a chartplotter before summer and may replace radar as well. I've found replacement panels at Flounder Pounder so I can cut to fit new units - any pair that you all recommend? I started by looking at Garmin as I have experience with their products in my other boats but there are SO MANY different options. Is the purpose of having 2 screens just to give you multiple views at one time?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.

OK I give up! Have read here the horror stories of EIM problems. I have read my elec schematics (still learning those), parts manual and owners manual and I cannot find ref to these EIM's.. My boat is a 2006 DA. Please tell me I do not have them.

I’m assuming u have a 40da, if that’s the case we do not have eim modules. I had a 34da before the 40 and that boat had eim modules

no live in York PA, Boating in the Chesapeake, Tie up in Bodkin Creek Pasadena Md, just a little north of annapolis.
Bought boat in sept 2022, prior to that had a sailboat for 20 years. Pretty much a DIYer and analyze everything that i do or pay to have done. Eng are qsb5.9 380 with boat pretty much standard. Did just about everything Tony (SBMar) said to do last year.
I looked at a lot Rays in 40-44 in the 06-08 years. My guess is that our boats are pretty much identical except i bet your hull is blue. we really wanted the tan hull but admiral fell in love with the one we bought with white hull.
We gotta stay in touch. feel free to ask any questions, might not know but I will remember page number to look up.

What does EIM stand for? Are you referring to the Engine Control Module?

Looking at a 07 40 sd with 8.1s. What are the many areas or things to look for and what are the first thing to do to the boat?

I would change plugs, wires, impellers, and filters. get a baseline of service started, you never know how long its been and 8.1s eat plugs.
