Official 380 Thread

I am having an issue with my R80 radar display not powering up. I have been told by my by the service person that Sea Ray installed the electronics at the same time the boat was being manufactured. With no way even with removing dash can the unit be remove. We are been told that the aft stateroom ceiling liner will need to be removed and they will need to cut a hold and make an access panel to disconnect and remove the unit. Has anyone had this issue?

I just replaced my R80 with a color version of the same unit. Because the R80 is a CRT its bulk makes it difficult to get to the cam-lock on the port side of the unit. Luckily, my boat has an autopilot installed just below and to the right of the plotter. I removed this (also not easy) to reach the opposite side of the R80 and get it free.

I would suggest you check the grounding bus first under the helm... these connections are prone to corrosion.

Thanks very much for all your advise will check this this weekend. Which color unit did you replace it with?

The Mobella door latch handle on the head/shower door doesn't "center" anymore. It opens and closes the door catch fine, but unless you physically raise it back up, it just stays flopped down. Since this is a designated priority of the Only Mate, I thought I would seek some insight before either replacing it or tearing it apart. Anyone dealt with that particular door latch? Fixable?

Had the same issue, I took a dremmel to the strike plate and enlarged the opening, latches fine now.

Found an RL80C Plus on eBay... think I paid around $800.

what is the passenger/weight limit for 380da? cant find the placard anywhere. Thanks

I just picked up a 2000 38' Sundancer and I'm going to put a second thru hull depth transducer in. I'm putting the Garmin 20 degree bronze unit in. I'm thinking about putting it on the starboard side area right before the V-drive transmission close to the stringer towards the keel. Anybody put one in this location or did you find a better spot?

Thanks,
Al

Funny, I've always wondered the same thing. I couldn't even find anything on Google searches. I guess you've reached capacity when you've either exceeded the number of PFD's onboard or there's water coming over the gunwales.

I dropped the B744 Raymarine in and found the hull surprisingly amazingly thick. Be sure you have a long thread tube. Just out of curiosity...why?

Thanks....if anybody has the LED replacement info, I would appreciate it. I just replaced the cockpit and stern bulbs with LEDs, and would like to do the same thing in the cabin.

Thanks again, guys.

Don

Hey Don,

Just replaced mine last week. Bought 16 G-4's from (gurbbyking1203) @ $2/each and they all worked. Had to wait a week for FREE shipping but I was not in a rush as I was rebuilding a raw water pump, new zinc pencils, cleaning out heat exchangers and changing oil & filters. So plenty of time for shipping.
Prices for L.E.D.'s in the states are nuts!!!!

Found this web site from our group here at C.S.R. Can't beat these folks for info.:smt038

Good luck with your project.

Dennis

Does any one know how to get the moveable/adjustable fixture down in the galley? i can get the flush mount one out but not the other type!

I had to cut my rope from my anchor chain/rope. I recovered all, I just need to find somewhere near DC, NOVA/md to splice my line again. I have everything off the boat but having trouble finding a rig shop or someone to do it. Any ideas?

I have a 2003 380 with the RL80C radar w/ open array. I need to remove the radar off the arch for Hwy transport. Can anyone provide some direction on the best way to do that?

Thanks

Hi all,

Have any of you had problems with the IAC (idle air controller) valves on your engines? My starboard one went 2 years ago, and my port one went last week. It's not a huge deal, costs $150 bucks and takes literally 20 minutes to replace, but it is a serious pain in the butt when you are out in the ocean and Smartcraft shuts down the engine. I'm going to get a spare, just curious if anyone has had an issue. The repair guy said he has replaced probably 15 of them in the last couple years. Reading on line, it seems like the factory installed IACs on the 8.1 mercruisers have had issues but the replacements don't seem to have issues.

One interesting thing, I noticed this season I was running a little higher rpms to keep her cruising in her sweet spot. After replacing the port IAC I gained some horse power (can feel it) and am cruising 150-200 rpms less at the same speed as before. It must have been slowly failing for a while.

I posted this on gas engine tread but no responce.
If any one has any ideas pleas post.
Thanks
The boat has upper and lower helms. The upper helm throttle leavers work well. The lower leavers can not be pushed faster from low position but work well once off low position. If I loosen the upper and lower helm tension screws the lower helm works fine, but the throttles on upper and lower helms have to be held in position or they slip back (boat slows down). If I tighten either tension screws so the throttles stay in place the lower helm can not be pushed off low position.
Are there other tension screws to loosen? I have followed the cables from both throttles and there are no kinks or abrupt bends. All connection points to the carburetors are solid. There is no rust on any cables. I have not separated the inner cable from the outer to lubricate them. All cables when there is no tension from the set screws slide freely.
What am I missing?

Question for you guys... whats your engine temp running on a 7.4 380 Horizon engine. One of my guages says 160 degrees, the other 180. not sure if a guage is bad or one engine runs hotter than the other. thanks
