Official 380 Thread

Nice work. What kind of TV (Make/Size) and mounting systems did you use? I have often thought that would ba a perfect place for a 25" flat screen.

Very nice.

Bob

RE Cabin Tv Install..25" might be a little tight, it may prevent you from mounting as close to the back surface as you would like. With a 24" it is set back far enough so the recessed light is not compromised. Any 24" should would work, though they are not a common size. The cabinet mount is a Rocketfish available from Best Buy. It was designed for a 22" but worked fine for this application.

Looking into purchasing a 1999 380 I am looking trying to decide between two Identical boats. One difference I have noted is one has a wood insert on the shower floor, I was wondering if this was standard, an option or was a custom mod.

A friend had a 1999 380 and his had the wooded insert. Mine has one also. I'd say it was standard.

Mine also has it, was standard equipment from what I've seen on other 380's

You can replace the compressor and related guts of the fridge for around $700 if memory serves me correct. It's been a few years since I did it and I've posted the link here a few different times. You can do it in the salon and don't need to dismantle things to get the fridge out.

*edit - here's one discussion

http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/12879-Norcold-fridges?highlight=fridge

I just ordered one on line and installed it myself $700 and took about an hour and a half, works great. I can track down the company if anyone is interested or you can google it like I did.

Thanks for the responses on the shower insert will have to ask the owner on that one.

Hello everyone,

I am looking at purchasing a 2008 38 Sundancer with T-Cummins MerCruiser® QSB-380 Diesel Engines w/ZEUS Drive.
I wanted to see if anyone could give me some feedback about the ZEUS drive and what they thought about it.

Thanks!!!

Replaced the old Norcold with the new Norcold DE-0061. Removed the old refrigerator by removing the compressor, refirgerator and freezer doors, cooling rack off the back of the refrigerator, along with the compressor to get the old unit out (in pieces). In order to get the new refrigerator into the cabin, we removed the sliding cabin doors, then removed the doors and hinges off the new refrigerator, and unscrewed the compressor from the back of the fridge and placed it on top of the box (without disconnecting the cooling hose), and lowered the unit into the cabin in an upright fashion. Took 4 guys to do it. We needed to move the compressor from its original position more towards the center of the box in order for the refrigerator to fit into the cabinet without sticking out.

Definitely a doable replacement. But you will need patience, and friends.

I believe I have a clogged fuel tank vent on the stbd on my 2001 380. Went to fill up today and put 15 gallons in and got a gush of air and gas out of the fuel fill. Luckily I always have a rag in my hand, just in case so I was able to catch the fuel before it went anywhere. How difficult is it to change the through hull fitting? Does it unscrew, twist off, etc? My guess is that the screen is oxidized and blocked. Also, is the best way to the tank top connection through the gunnel access panel in the aft salon?

Thank you so much. I am going to the boat today to discuss with my service guy. These instructions will certainly be valuable.

Stowage

Hi,

No matter how I try, I can't figure out how to best use the spaces below the wet bar along the port side on the aft deck. The forward one is deep but awkwardly shaped making it difficult to get things in/out. The aft one under the sink has no shelves, so it becomes a dumping area for just about anything. I still don't know if there's a designated storage area for the table supports...

Any advice/solutions are appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael.

I put tools and cleaning supplies in the forward storage bin. I store compressed 5 gallon plastic water jugs (for getting water when on the hook), spare parts for the engines in the rear compartment.

I made a shelf out of starboard for the one under the sink. Origionally I think Sea Ray had a small waste pail in that cabinet. Having a shelf is much more useful... cleaning supplies on the bottom, then spare racors, deck key, other small items on the shelf. As far as the table support, I put it in the compartment under the passenger helm seat.

Re: Stowage

I built shelves in the forward one and store cleaning supplies in there. I left the wastebasket in the rear cabinet.

A small amount of water in the bilge

I accumulate a small amount of water in my bilge after taking my boat out for a cruise. It is in the center of the bilge. Not enough to kick on the mid sump but defiantly bothers me to have to clean it out every time I take my boat out. Has anybody else had/have or seen this? Any ideas on how to trace it?

Thanks,
Bob
