Official 380 Thread

Perfect. Thank you
Now I just need to see what the marina says. I think they will work with me.

Engine winterization question: I do not know if the diesel/gas raw water seacocks are the same on the 380s. I'd like to hear/see what folks with diesel have done to introduce pink antifreeze into the engine raw water system. I was thinking remove the raw water hose at the seacock, put it in a 5 gallon bucket of the pink stuff, start the engine until I see it come back out the thru hill exhaust, then shut the engine down. I like what he did as well:

We have a fully executed vessel acceptance on a 2002 380DA Monaco edition with CAT 3126 engines. We have been searching for 4 months, looked at a number of boats, and been under contract twice before. All that searching led us to the perfect boat!!! We have been reading this blog non-stop and are excited to start posting!!! Todd (and Corinna) Long Beach, CA

Congratulations, what's different about the Monaco version, that's new to me.
The biggest difference that I can tell with the Monaco edition is the two-tone gel coat on the hull. Plus, the upholstery was blue and white striped, but the upholsteryB189528A-A305-46A2-8BD7-6A831CAC175C.jpeg7B2B7C5E-9ECD-45CA-BA61-1A6496D9398F.jpeg has been recently replaced.

Has anyone had their 380 painted ? I got a quote of $28000 to have a bottom job done and the whole outside of the boat done from water line to the top of the radar arch in awlgrip but nothing inside the cockpit does this sound about right ?

That number does not strike me as outrageous, but it all depends on what's being done.

I have not but have personally done a lot of painting over the years. Most recently the entire deck of a Beneteau 361.
With regards to the 'bottom job', is that blasting the bottom paint off to gelcoat, barrier coat application, then antifouling?
That would greatly affect the price. Recently got the bottom of my 380 blasted for $1800. I'm going to do the needed epoxy fairing then barrier coat, then antifouling.

Same questions for above the waterline. Depends what needs to be done to prep for finish paint.
I have not used Awlgrip, preferring Alexseal 2 part epoxy primer then epoxy paint. This stuff costs a small fortune.
Additionally, have used SoftSand ground rubber to create non-skid. It is sealed by the epoxy paint and is easily repairable. Very time consuming, but the results are stunning.

Do your homework on the person doing the work. Make sure, make sure, make sure (did I say this enough) that you inspect other boats this person has done. I purchased the Beneteau at a quarter of its ultimate value, due to the horror show that was the attempted deck repairs. I knew what I was getting into, so for me it was a bargain. Once your gelcoat has been wrecked the $$$ add up fast.

@josh broze I have never heard of StarPower 7.3 Diesel - I am curious to learn/know what these are all about. Did your boat come from the factory with these installed?

The boat originally came with gas mercruisers, the previous owner repowered with the star power 7.3l diesels. The diesels are the same as the 7.3 international or for power stroke engines mercury bought them out at some point and made them for a couple years. The only problem with them is it is hard to get any of the marineized parts for them but any of the international parts most auto parts stores carry since they are the same as the ford 7.3 power stroke. I was also able to buy extra a pair of low hour engines when I bought the boat so I have plenty of parts
