Official 380 Thread

What is the best brand/type of bottom paint that I can purchase? Looking to have my 380DA bottom painted soon. The boat is fresh water, and has a “barrier coating” under the bottom paint. The bottom was painted approximately 5 years ago. When we transported the boat this summer, there were no blisters, but it was recommended that we repaint and replace all the anodes.

High copper content.

We used Cukote Sea Hawk 47.5% copper ablative. Be careful when you go to pick up a gallon can. Heavier than you think!

I was going to do it myself but it worked out better to have the yard do it.

Cheers!

On the 2000 models. And it looks like on this the first link is the same. The black out shade latches to the screen(while it’s closed). Same thing while the black shade is closed the screen pulled over and latches on it.

But if yoh unlatch either while in the open position, it will retract and give you access to the hatch mechanism (while the screen and black shade or both retracted

if that makes any sense at all
Turns out I am a moron. The two sides were connected via a full length and very strong magnet and what I had was a broken handle, so I didn't have a way to pull the two different screens apart. One handle instead of two. Replacement handle and I'll be good to go. Not sure how I didn't realize this before now. I took the screen off to measure it and stared at it for a few moments and realized...again, moron.

Awesome, we are all morons at some point, just glad it worked out, and saved you a couple bucks

Nah man,... your a boater. You needed it fixed and you diagnosed the problem. Some time it take longer then we would like.

Well, thanks for the reassurance but I feel like having defeated a Kohler Genset throwing error codes, I should have been a bit quicker on the hatch screen. :D

Thanks. So, unless I’m crazy, that is not the case on mine. The blackout and screen are connected in the center and my only choice is one way or the other. Either blackout or screen but not neither.

Specifically different than the first link, I have only a single handle. Not two that are independently attached to the two different shades.
They will separate if you take your fingernail and insert it in between the two screens. They are held together by a magnet.

I'm the proud new owner of a 2000DA. The manuals that came with the boat were incomplete. I have a owners supplement manual and I have seen the parts manual on line. I would really like to get the actual 2000DA owners manual. I have contacted Sea Ray and they verified it's not available on their site. They got back to me a few days later and said "Looks like we don't have a copy". I'd be happy with anything 2000-2004 as they are basically the same. If anyone has a .PDF or would be willing to ship it to me (for copy and prompt return) I'm happy to fill someone's stocking this year with $50. There are so many things that I would like to know and don't see where that information could otherwise be found.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah...if you read down a couple posts, you'll see I figured that out after staring at it for a bit. $19.50 for new handles and I'm all good.
I am missing a handle, too. Have you figured out how to replace them? Do they slide in from the side in the groove track or do you have to disassemble the whole screen?
My bug screen will lock in place but the sun shade side is missing a handle.

Ordered the handles here - https://www.ahoycaptain.com/oceanair_ac-rss-mk5-handle.html

You have to slide the entire roller off by releasing the corners which exposes an end cap that you remove to slide on the new handle. Ahoy Captain has good instructions here - https://www.ahoycaptain.com/ChangingRSSHandlePre2012.pdf

I decided to add a couple sd card readers for the axiom and had a few questions from members, about equipment i used, so here is the final list and final picture of the electronics upgrade.

Do you think you could have fit three of the 7" Axioms? Doing two as part of the redesign.

I purchased my 2003 380da back in September. It came with all the manuals of the boat. My boat is currently shrink wrapped. If you do not need it immediately, I will work on getting it copied and the send it to you. It is a 2001 owners manual.
