Official 370 Sundancer thread

I bought the panels from Flounder Pounder. They were great to work with, everything fits like a glove. I don't think you could make it, with all of the lettering,
for less than what they charge.

I am going to install dual trumpet electric horns on top of the arch. If you tell me how to transfer pictures from my phone to this sight, I can send you pictures of the Sea Deck on my swim platform.

I believe it was $385.00 for both panels, and by the time you buy the material, cut it out and get everything labeled (etched), I don't know if you would save much.

It's quite easy to post pics.

You can store pictures for free on Photobucket. If you do, select the image you want and click the "IMG" file to the right. That copies it. Then paste it into the body of the message.

The other (better and nicer) alternative is to sponsor the site and you'll be allowed to upload more pictures directly.

I'm VERY interested as this is one of my upgrades for this season. I'd love to see the pictures

I bought all new helm panels from Flounder Pounder and you can't go wrong.

Looking forward to seeing a pic of the air horns installed.

I have a 96 370, and there is definitely enough horsepower. I went with 4 blade props like the 380 has and it made a big difference in mid range performance and backing up. I also back into my dock and only have around 1' between me and my dock partner and it is no problem. I have a friend wit a 380, and I like the cockpit layout much better on my 3070 with the portside passenger seat. I find I don't need the power actuated hatch. I had the carpet over the middle hatch cut so that it is a separate piece allowing the hatch to be opened without pulling up all of the carpet.

Got tired of mine not meeting performance specs, and had in the past just wrote it off to the fact I boat at 5700'. Lousy mid-range, struggled to get on plane - then high rpms just hoping to keep it on plane. Things were so bad I was actually looking into superchargers in hopes of recovering lost power and getting the boat to perform reasonably.

Put off by the cost of supercharging, I looked elsewhere. Since my boat came from the Great Lakes, someone suggested taking a look at changing props. Did my research, spoke to prop experts and mfg's and went with some new props from Acme props. They wanted to stick with 3 bladed to replace my existing 3 bladed props - and I was thinking 4 bladed as it seemed my 3 blades weren't getting much bite. I seriously questioned that. Finally I decided to follow their advice (based on their money back guarantee if not happy) - and I can with all honesty say the new props completely changed my boat. Not just by a small amount - but completely changed my boat into a totally different performing boat. Superior slow speed control, both forward and reverse, literally comes right out of the water and onto plane in mid-range rpms, and has a top end I only could dream of in previous seasons. By FAR - the single best investment I've made for my boat. By far.....

Gee...you guys are making me think about this. I have lousy performance out of the hole on my 95. 3 blade props. My mechanic and I are going to take her out in spring and see if we agree that 4 blade props are the idea.

Thanks for the bringing this up!

I went four blades about four years ago and I wouldn't go back. I followed the general rule of keeping the same diameter, up one blade and down one inch in pitch to keep the RPMs within range.

Any one change out thier cutlass bearings lately?!.5" shaft ,not sure of the inner or the length though.Seems like 2" inner and 6" from memory but i havent been to the boat in 3 months (ouch).Would like to order the bearings before the drive up if possible.Do i need the strut part number to get the correct ones? Anyone know where to order for good pricing? Are the manufacturers all the same or is there one that is better than another not just more web hits? Thanks Glen

Gene - what size props did you go with (diameter and pitch) and which mfg. I am shopping and knowing which brand/size from folks that are pleased with what they bought would be helpful and make the calling list shorter.

Original equipment are 18" x 22", my four blades are 18" x 21". I don't remember the mfgr., but I do remember they were a major name. Michigan? Dyna-something?

i got them used on eBay for $250 from someone who didn't know what he had. Brought them to my prop shop and had them checked over. The shop said they were new and needed nothing but some cleaning.

Needless to say. I am very pleased.

Hi Gene,
Your original prop size is interesting. Mine are 18x21 three blades which is what is listed in the Sea Ray 1996 parts manual. I cant say that I can complain about the overall performance but we always could do better...lol My top end loaded with fuel in calm waters is about 34 mph. The torque around the docks could be better, although I am used to how it handles now and compensate with a little more throttle when needed.

If I were to go to a 4 blade would you think I would still be at 18" but I would drop down to 20"?? (Using your rule of thumb listed in an earlier post)
Thanks
Bill

Gene - thank you - this is exactly the information I was looking for.
