Official 370 Sundancer thread

A couple of quick question - I need to rebed the stanchions I believe. I assume that they are through bolted with a backing plate. Are all the stanchion bases accessable from the access covers on the interior? I think I am also going to have to re-seal the windshield wiper based. Without pulling down the headliner (which I will never get back up successfully), is there a way to accomplish this easily?

We brought her home to Reefpoint Marina in Racine WI from Milwaukee this past weekend - what a pleasure - what a great boat - what a wonderful ride!

Pull down the speaker/light headliner and you can get to both wipers..simple and easy. They are on black catches to hold them in...just pull the edges down.

Thank you - will give them a tug when at the boat next. I looked at the speaker/light headliner panels, but was afraid to pull too hard.

Any knowledge on the stanchions?

There are screws in the speaker/light headliner panels too. Use a plastic putty knife (or something similar) to feel around the edge and find the screws. The screws are within a half inch or so of the edge. Once you find a screw, you will notice that the vinyl covering is just tucked in at the screws. Un-tuck the vinyl and you can get at the screw head. When done, screw the screw back in and tuck the vinyl behind (under) the panel.

Hi Again,
I don't have any knowledge of seeing screws holding in that headliner but it certainly is possible on varying model years. I do know that my 96 has black clips similar to the ones used on the cockpit door latches to the fridge and cabinet.

The stanchions are going to be fun. The front ones are easy enough as they are under the headliner bolsters to the port and starboard at the forward berth. To access them you will need to remove the angled bolsters. The fabric is tucked in at each end. Simply tug at the fabric and you will see that it will come out and allow access to the wood screws that hold the piece in place. Remove those and you have found a set of plates. From the anchor locker you can become a contortionist and find a couple more..(I was just in there last week so I am speaking from experience..LOL). Then at the stern port and starboard sides you can get 2 the end ones via the access storage lockers. I haven't looked recently but I do beleive I remeber seeing 1 on each side near the speaker hole at the helm seat and companion seat. As for the ones in the salon, I can only assume it will be a true P.I.T.A. because they are behind the cabinets in some fashion but I have not looked for them there at all.

Hope that helps.

Ignore the cockpit speakers...I was mistaken...:) I saw a starboard stanchion mount while looking through access hole under helm seat and feeding wires from the radar arch...they're a real b I t c h to get at...

I haven't been in for a while but thought I would post pictures of the blinds I installed where the curtains used to be in the salon and aft cabin.

The blinds look great!. I like how the wood set everything off. Did you have then custum made or did you just cut them to size?

That looks great! How did you mount them? Did you use the two end brackets with mid rod holders like in a home application?

and here I made it all season without any mods...lol

Looks great! This is getting added to my list of upgrades to do.
I will patiently await deatails of your install.
If you had them custome made I am sure there are a quite a few buyers here that will jump on it.

I got the blinds through "Blinds Chalet" 888-633-7840 www.blindschalet.com. They will send you samples, I used the Aspen 1" faux wood blinds Oak color. Measurements I used were 1. salon starboard 80" x 12" 2. salon port 48" x 12" 3. Aft cabin 27" x 12. 12 inches is the shortest height sold so I removed 4-5 slats on the port side at galley. The starboard and aft set in the curtain compartment fine. Also, adjusted the lift strings and cut the tilt rod to fit at each location. I ordered lift/tilt adjustments on the right side for salon starboard and aft cabin and left side for galley. Installation was fairly easy. Fully removed the curtains and rod/metal holders. Really can't use the end cap/brackets on the new blinds. I drilled holes right through the metal top piece of the blinds and used screws approx. 1' longer to secure in place. As for opening the port lights in the salon, it's not optimal and the blinds will lay on the glass (fully drawn) when open. This was also a concern of mine but went ahead anyway. When ordering make sure and request the 30% discount on the site. Might need to call to get this but it was available when we did. Truthfully, my wife did the ordering.

Standing vs. sitting.

I have been looking for a 37 for awhile now. I have found a few boats, but discovered something on a sea trial that bothered me.

When driving a boat I like to stand, or lean. I find sitting awkward. I got some dimension prints from Sea Ray to figure out how to layout the bunks on my lift in anticipation of being an owner and I noticed a notation that the arch was higher in later models. The one I ran was 1995.

Does anyone know if the seat and bimini top are higher in the later models?

Has anyone modified the bimini with an extra bow, and raised the seat? I tried to use cushions during the sea trail but it was not adequate to lean against.

1998 and pseudo 1999 models have the higher arch which makes it easier to stand behind the wheel if you are taller. I say pseudo 1999 because i unerstand that while there are models out there truly labelled 1999 models, they are really left over builds of 1998 models as Sea Ray came out with the 380 that year.

i do not believe they changed the height of the pilot seat from year to year. When I was rebuilding my seat two years ago, I thought of trying to add the flip up bolster found on other models of different sizes, but it was beyond my skills.

if you look at the profile of 95-97 models and compare them to the profile pics of 98-99 models, you can easily see the difference in arch height. In fact, it is the single biggest trait that I notice immediately when looking at a 370. You can check out 370sundancer.com to see what I mean.

I wondered how are style would look with a hardtop! I think it looks ok but needs more curvature to the roof portion. That had to be an expensive project!
The railings have been removed as well!
