Official 370 Sundancer thread

I changed mine years ago, but IIRC the brown wires are for the indicator light in the shower stall. It lights up when the pump is activated.
I have two sets of brown wires: solid brown and another brown with orange stripe. the third wire is black

It's been a while, but let's start this one up again. What props are you swinging on your 370?
stock?
Brand, diameter, pitch, number of blades, model year of your 370, engines, and comments

I'm thinking about moving off the stock 18x22 H/S 3 blade bronze props on my 98 with 380 Mag MPI. I'd like more torque around the dock, and rarely push the boat for any period of time.

I got a pair of 18 x 22 four blades. Picked them off of eBay for a fifth of the price for new. Had them checked out and they didn't need any condtioning. Perfect. Has made a big difference around the docks and maybe a little on the top end. Not sure about fuel efficiency though. I haven't done enough long trips with them to say for sure.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the 37 forum with a 1997. I recently moved up from an '07 240 Sundancer. I actually brought the boat from another member on this site. I'm looking forward to a great future with 'Shore Thing 2'

Welcome Shore Thing! Funny there was a 40 Sundancer on my dock with the same name. The owners traded up to a Tiara with pod drives, but kept the name. If you have read this entire thread, you will find a wealth of info. And don;t for get to check out 370sundancer.com.

ITs a shore thing, Congrats on the new addition to the family! I'll be right behind you shortly. I cant wait to move up in the ranks and extend my boating season by 2 months and laugh at the rain! Day boating is great but I'm looking for more!

Hi Gene, Hope your season is going well, and I have been at your site many many times!! Its A+

After having read through all 58 pages of great information and learing alot about the great 370, I ask are there any shortcomings or specific things I should be looking for in a '99 370. I will be looking for the 6" risers to address the water igenstion issue. Are there any other known issues?

We currently have and love our '91 310/330 and are looking to make an offer on the '99 370. Walked the admiral through the 370 and she fell in love with the layout, the added space and the finish of the boat.

This thread (and 370sundancer.com) hold a wealth of information and knowledge and I thank you for sharing.

good question.

I'm torn between, the twin 8.1's in a 33/34 Sundancer or in a 37 Sundancer. And the difference in cost of ownership if the bang for the buck differences are.

has anybody traced the wires from the windshield vent actuator to the dash? I pulled all he gauges I could not find how the wires were feed.

Dave and Ctsearay,

If you have read through this thread and perused 370sundancer.com, you've probably seen all of the issues. IMHO, there isn't any problem that can't be overcome if the boat has good bones and decent care over the years. Aside from a case of 'foot-itis', the 370 comes as close you can get to a perfect boat.

LOL Gene I got ya. I'm doing an insurance, dockage, bottom paint and winter storage comparison between the two. Then the only big difference is the fuel consumption cost

Gene - thank you for your response -

Survey and Sea Trial scheduled for Thursday. Can't wait - hope all goes well.

(Yes - I know pictures, but only after Thursday and it is ours!)

Dave, You probably have seen most of the common issues posted in this thread but some of the ones I would be specifically looking for besides water ingestion would be problems with rot in the plywood seat bases, cockpit storage floors, and the vinyl wrapped radar arch side panels. Also I would think the boat is probably due to have the waste hoses replaced from the head to the vacuum pump. Even if they look okay they sometimes start to emit an odor that may be dificult to detect if the boat has been opened up and aired out. Good luck, Mark

Mark - through nosing around the boat, I discovered the rod holder drains not being connected, so the cockpit storage areas are very damp/wet and the forward port seat reclines a bit more than it probably should. But these are projects that are managable. The bigest concern I have is the ingestion issue, probably because this is an area that I am least familiar with and don't entirely know what to be looking for to determine if it ever was an issue with this boat.. I am having a complete mechanical survey done in addition to a hull survey. It is my hope that if there are any issues, they will be found through the survey.

Thursday cannot come soon enough!

Thanks for your advice.

Dave

Well, we are now proud members of the 370 club. Sea trials and survey both went without any issues, the boat performed beautifuly in lumpy water (2'-3' chop). We have our project list forming with issues that have been discussed in prior posts (rod holders that leak, etc.). The retrofit for the water ingestion issue is installed. Lots of cleaning and TLC and she will be beautiful.

Once she is cleaned up, there will be plenty of pics.

Thanks for all of your input and comments.

How do you hook up the water tubes to the rod holders. I have looked for cap covers but can't find any.

I had the same problem, the holes in the bottom of those rod holders are regular pipe thread. I plugged them but got tired of sucking the water out of them with my little shop vac. Wound up just getting new rod holders with the caps. IIRC I think they were around $12 a piece from Overtons........problem solved

Hi 370 owners,
I am looking at a 1998 370 and would appreciate the "cliff notes" version on what issues/concerns to look for. I am an avid forum guy and know this probably not the best way to enter your thread but I know the power of the forum, the info you all have......but you have 173 pages dedicated to the 370!!!! So please excuse my bad forum manors and help a brother out! I have read a ton but am still confused on the exhaust issue and what exactly to look for. Any other things that I should be aware of would be appreciated.

MUCH appreciated,
RJ
