Official 370 Sundancer thread

My wife and I have owned and still own 1989 21' Donzi Regazza and just bought a 99 370 with twin 7.4 L inboards a week ago. I just found Club Sea Ray and entire thread on 370s today and am excited to learn there is an entire community devoted to Sea Rays and this entire thread devoted to 370's. This is amazing and can't wait to read this entire thread in my spare time when I am not doing projects on the boat. I've already had fun finding the one outlet with the "reset" button in the cabin (after an hour of looking it was under the mirror in the head. This truely is an amazing boat and have gotten numerous comments. We currently have it on the Mississippi River in Red Wing, MN and plan to eventually get her up to Lake Superior and other Great Lakes....also our last name is Fuller, hence the name will be "Great Full". I will be visiting this site often and can't wait to get feedback from other Sea Ray owners and 370 owners in particular.

Congrats!! I remember not too long ago when I first bought my 370 and found this very thread. There are a lot of great people on this site and they are a great resource. Enjoy your new boat, it is one of the best boats SR ever built in my opinion.

Welcome. I found Club Sea Ray just after I bought my 370 and then this thread got started so I was in nearly from the beginning. There is a wealth of info here, but make sure you also go to 370sundancer.com for photos of what other people have done with their 370's. Then when you get things in shape send me some photos of your own that I can add to the site.

Welcome aboard. This form has been a god sent since we purchased our 370. If you have any questions about this boat I am sure someone will have the answer for you.

Congratulations! We love our 370, I'm sure you will throughly enjoy her! We are in Pool 3 and get to Red Wing a few times a year. What marina are you at?

We are in the Ole Miss Marina by Bay Point Park on the north side of Red Wing. We are on "H" dock (gas dock) Stop by if you are in the neighborhood.

Thanks for the site. I will.

So when we bought the 95 370 in late February, it was missing a bow sun pad.

A little history in that the previous owner had two custom pads made that fit either side of the stock middle pad. The port side pad blew off in the late winter prior to us seeing the boat. It was understood we'd have to have our own custom pad made for that missing spot.

The great thing about having the two custom pads is that it turns about half of the bow into a pretty nice area to lay out, catch some rays and enjoy being on the water. The kids and grand kids love it and it's never in the shade.

Our issue was in the difference that would happen with a new piece of vinyl vs the older stuff. So, talking with Doug from Shoreline Canvas and Covers in Kelowna, we decided that a Sunbrella cover would be appropriate. Doug did our carpets when we first took possession as well as a new bimini and mooring cover on our last boat. He's very trustworthy, takes his time and does quality work. So we simply trusted him to do what would look best.

So, he made the pad complete with new snaps and straps to hold it down. Re-did the old cushion snaps and straps to ensure they were sturdy and then created the cover. The front end is held by Sea-Trac and the rest is elasticized to hold it under the cushions. Then, he installed some corner straps for tightening in the top end plus straps to attach to the middle bow rails. We saw it all for the first time after returning from vacation this past weekend. Wow...what a great job and all for 1k!

And a pic prior to install of the cover...complete with kids and grand kids hanging out. (was nice and quiet in the cockpit!)

Next up, Doug is redoing our canvas top...can't wait for GoFirstClass (Mike) to see this when he visits this July!

Very nice Mark! He made the missing pad and added the Sunbrella cover for $1000? Sounds like a great deal!

Hi mboater95,

I have had the same problem last summer, the water came in from somewhere and made the glass shelf totally wet and even the bolster was soak and wet and has to be redone. I am looking into this problem now other people told me it could be coming in from the railing bracket/srews on top. I was thinking about resealing the whole moulding around the haul and also the railing and glass windows from the stateroom. any suggestion to help me out?
Can we buy another bolster for the stateroom or we can only have it rebuild?
Thanks!

Hi Benny,
We had the same problem back in 2009, what we found out was the rubber seal in the nav light on the ports side was gone. My husband unscrewed the top from the base and resealed it and screwed the top back on. We also found the calk just above the rub rail was coming apart. So we removed all the calk and re calked the entire port side. The leak has been gone since 2009. After finding that my husband removed and recalked the other side. Hope this helps. I posted 3 pic of the water damage in my profile under albums.

Good luck

Thanks Connie! I will redo that as well! the boat is out of the water right now so its the best time to recalk everything! thanks for the help!

If you are referring to the swim step ladder call GG Schmitt 717-394-3701 they were the manufacturer. Old part #L08E3103, New #L08E3105. You can buy only the the 3 steps (add RP1 to the part number) or the whole ladder. It cost about 1/2 from them as it does from Marine Max.
ole, i did that and its perfect. thanks again

So I know how we all love pics, so here is a few little improvments I have made.

I acquired new chrome hardware for the cabinets from FlounderPounder Marine. Also shown is my stab at a TV at two locations with one mount, working out very well. Only thing left to do is install a slide on cable end for quick removal, the threaded end that came with the coaxial wire is a pain to remove.

My first leak is also shown which I thought I would include with this note. From what I tell the water that beads up on the glass above the outer chrome ring sits along the top edge and finally disappears behind the ring, slowly follows the edge down and collects in the plywood / balsa coring that frames the portlight. water starts to get sucked up by the foam on the back of the upolstery and trickles down and lays on the glassed shelf where the fabric backsplash along the edge sucks up the water and bingo leak shows up as staining. Luckily the shelf seems to be good except for the edge which is not bad. I plan to pull the portlights on the starboard side and rebed over winter. You can tell if this is happening simply by removing the interior trim ring and look at the coring and see if its wet!

Hi IceTime,

I believe that my problem with this leak was do to the fixed portlight window leaking, I looked at every area where the water had stained the bolster and when I saw water that sat on top of the almost flush chrome ring and slowly get sucked behind the ring I felt I found the issue. I removed both fixed portlights on the starboard side and removed all wet coring I could and let it dry out over the winter. I filled it with some WM expoxy and rebedded the rear portlight, I replaced the front one along with the port side front one with new opening portlight units, love them for some fresh air while we are gone or at night, its kinda like dual temrature zones for the wife and I . Since I caught this quickly the bolster was not stained to bad so I left it with plans to change the upolstery in the future! Good luck on fixing this issue!

Thanks Marty...

I have to ask, what are those brackets you are using for the televisions? I need to replace the one in the forward stateroom.

Thanks...

Hey Mark,

Here is the link for my TV brackets, they have worked great. I have an extra wall mount on the arch so I can quickly remove the Tv from the forward stateroom and use it at the arch!
http://www.jensenmarinedirect.com/products/lcd-tvs/lcd-tv-mounts.html

I see you are looking at replacing your canvas, I replaced most of mine last year and since you have a 95 like mine the best advice for the forward section over the helm would be to raise the forward tube 6" to gain height!, depends on your height but having the canvas slant up instead of down gave me a little more height at the helm and looks better I think anyway. Also if you have a camper top You are replacing, have the top go all the way to the arch instead of zipping to the sun bimmini. One less seam to leak and the bimmini is stored away not getting weathered. Good luck!

Thanks Marty.

We have the same setup. We can move to the upstairs and mount on the arch. It turns out the knob to tighten is busted and the tv needs something behind it at the bottom to straighten it. There's no swivel, so I'd like to add it.

The tv hooks into the upgraded audio system in the cockpit. Sound is unbelievable. I'll try to post some pics for your info!

Mark
