Official 370 Sundancer thread

The 28 feet is for the rubber gasket that used to be the foam that goes in the channel around the base of the windshield to cover the screws that are used to secure the windshield to the hull. I just ordered 2ft of the rubber pc that covers the hinge on the front of the windshield vent. The rubber gasket that seals the window to the frame was in good shape so I didn't need to replace. As far as the part # the best bet is to call customer service and give them the year etc ,and they'll direct you in the right direction. I believe the part # may change from mine if your windshield has the stainless trim.. the # on my receipt is 834930 for the screw cover gasket..3.41 a ft

Howdy all!

I'm cornfused. Seems that after reading this there is only a 370 after 1995? I'm interested in a 370 but it's actually a 1992.

They did make one in 92, news to me! Looks like a nice boat, good luck - I have a 1997 for sale listed in the classifieds on this site if your interested.

Thanks Russ but I think yours is just a bit more than I'm wanting to spend right now. Nice cruiser. I wonder what the differences would be between them? I can only find the "Express Cruiser" in 1997 on Sea Rays website.

I can appreciate that, some of the best advice I ever received was to buy the 460 and skip the 370 and it would have saved me a lot of money in the long run but I couldn't swing it then.
I'm not sure what the differences are, I'm guessing a lot. SR made significant changes in those 5 yrs just looking at them. The 1995-1998/9? Were pretty much the same with just styling updates. My preference of course was the 97. This is the place to ask, if Frank W happens to see this he is very knowlegable- you may want to PM him.
1990 the 370 Sun Sport was introduced but I see no mention of a Sundancer. It was notable because it was the first use of rounded features. Then I think it was redesigned for model year 95 as a Sundancer is my guess.

We're only on a small lake. I just need the room for family on weekends and maybe a dog on occasion. When the time is right, I'll move her to Lake Cumberland and buy another airplane to speed up the commute. Now is NOT the time, lol.

I hear ya, good luck with your search. There is a lot of knowledge and great support on this board, if you buy a SR consider sponsorship it will pay for itself 100 times at least.

Andy, Sea Ray came out with a 350 Sundancer in 1990 then they started calling it a 370 in 1992 but it was the same exact boat as the 350 (they do this stuff all the time). That model ran until 94-95 when they came out with 1995 370 model which was the redesigned version like Russ's boat and my old 1998 Dancer. Hope that helps, Mark

AHA! That explains a bit. There is a "unbadged" Sea Ray down at our lake that really appears to be a 350/370 but I wasn't sure. So what I'm looking at is really a 350? It sure seems wide and long. I also have a lead on a 330 that I'll explore but tomorrow my wife and I are going back to visit the 370. Probably our final visit before we have to make a decision. I do like this boat. The room provided by the beam is spectacular and the fold-out rear seat that makes a sun pad is really appealing to my wife. 330 vs 350/370 really comes down to cockpit cover, cleanliness, hours on motors, and slip cost (although I think I could put either in a 13' slip). What's a decent guess on a cockpit cover for the 350/370? This one doesn't have one and I will need it. Camper is in great shape though.

...and I've read the entire thread. Thanks guys. Now to make sure the 370 is right for me. I need to find the financing that will make it fit too.

A long time ago a very wise and experienced boater told me "figure out what size boat you really really want and then go and buy the next size up". I found this to be very good advice except that sometimes 2,3, or 4 sizes up are more appropriate. In the long run you"ll save yourself alot of money. Mark

+1!!!

Hi Ron,

I just contacted Taylor Made (518-773-0636) and they gave me the part #'s for the gasket around the power window (#8352000) you will need 5 ft @ $8.10 per ft and the hinge cover gasket (#8229900) you have to measure how much you need at $2.28 per ft. Both gaskets are in stock. I am not sure if it will be the same #'s for your 370DA. Our 370DA is a 1999.

Hope this helps.

My wife and I just visited the 370 again. That is my boat if it works out. Problem is, it's been in a barn for at least 5-7 years. It's clean but it's going to need some attention with flexible parts. The bow rail has been pulled and re-sealed and the shower bilge has, at some point over-flowed and filled the compartment that it sits in. It's so very dry now, but how wet was it? There is a water line around the compartment about 2 inches off the bottom. Aft bilge looks to have held water at some point so the survey will be critical to me. The owner is willing to do what it takes to bring it to "salable" condition. Batteries, hoses, belts, impellers, packing boxes, fuel, etc...

FWIW, it really is a 370 and it really is a 1992. 12'4" beam, 36'10" OAL. I saw the owners packet with the original purchase and all maintenance receipts.

I hope this all works out but she is currently un-named and it was stripped from her. Bad mojo there.

Question: How many hours before you consider a 454 "old"?

This boat has been on the hard for 7 years?! Lots of concerns, wow, a huge undertaking. I wish you the best but I would not walk away from the deal, I would run.

Why? Please explain. I grew up on a houseboat but I'm new to ownership. My mechanic doesn't seem to mind being dry for that long so I'm open to opinions.

So many maintenance issues, boats are meant to be run. Parts that are supposed to be wet dry out and parts meant to be dry rust or corrode. That makes for a long list of things that need to be checked, serviced and/or replaced. With so many boats on the market time and mone may be better spent elsewhere. Obviously your call, I wouldn't give a boat that's been out of the water more than a couple seasons a second thought. Do your homework, good luck.

For me personally, I wouldn't let it scare you off. You're liable to find a great deal if things look good. If the boat was winterized before it was put away, I would still consider it. Yes, some gaskets can dry out on the engine, etc, but again, not something that would sway me otherwise.
